PERFECT FOR TWO
We recommend our cozy 950 sq ft cottage as a perfect setting for a romantic getaway for a couple, although it can potentially sleep more in a pinch. There is a queen bed in the master, a twin daybed in a second small bedroom plus a twin fold down futon couch in the living room. Absolutely no more than 4 guests total.
IMPORTANT INFO FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN: This property is not suitable for young children.
Relax in the large clawfoot tub and take a book or magazine with you from our bookshelf. The clawfoot tub has a wraparound curtain and a shower head for a stand-up shower. We hope to install a separate shower next spring.
If you get a little chilly, our very easy-to-use pellet fireplace will warm your toes and your soul! Directions are provided in the Welcome Book. There is also a regular furnace if you just want to turn a dial.
There is a window unit A/C in the master and fans in all bedrooms and the living room.
Do you love homemade, locally grown and raised meals?
Contact your host to see what fresh veggies and herbs from the garden are in season and can be picked.
Two farmstands where you can buy local vegetables, dairy and meat are within walking distance if you would like to cook up a delicious local-grown meal yourself. Pots, pans, utensils, flour, sugar, oil, butter and spices are available for your use.
Fresh local eggs and maybe some other local goodies await you in the full size refrigerator for your first morning breakfast. Scramble up those eggs or cook them sunny side on a brand new stove/oven. The dishwasher also makes clean-up easy!
Don’t feel like cooking? The Black Krim just 10 miles away in Randolph offers elevated farm-to table seasonal dishes. Saap, also located in Randolph, offers Traditional Thai dishes from the Isaan region. There are also pizza places and delis within 10 miles.
Sit on the front porch rocking chairs or patio set out on the large side deck and enjoy coffee while you listen to the birds chirping in the morning.
The cottage is conveniently centrally located within 8 miles from exits 4 and 5 off I89 and can be reached almost exclusively on paved roads with about only 1 mile of well-maintained dirt road to travel. (Unless you prefer to go the “back way” and enjoy the beauty of our Vermont backroads!)

This is a 1910 cottage with many original features. We have modernized it to be comfortable, but retained many of the cool vintage aspects of the original building. Also remember that this is rural Vermont! Farmers spread manure in the spring and hunters shot guns in the fall (not too close to property, but can be heard and smelled from a distance). The smells and sounds are lovely 95% of the time, but there is the potential to hear a gun shot in the distance in the fall or get a slight whiff of manure in the early spring.
Windows: We have the original old “ropes and weights” windows with the neat antique wavy glass. They can be a little tricky to operate for some. All windows do have storms with screens installed outside of the original sash.
Bathing: The clawfoot tub is another item that will remain at the cottage forever but may not be every guest’s cup of tea! It works well though for showering too – its just a little different than what most people are used to. It worked well for us for 9 years to shower in when we lived there full time. We do plan to install a separate shower next spring.
Sounds: Interior walls are thin (single layer beadboard) so sound travels easily through rooms. Camp owners on land behind us about an acre away might be there several weekends in the summer. They are nice folks with dogs and 4-wheelers. We do not have advance notice of what weekends they are up, but generally it has been Memorial weekend, 4th of July, an a couple other popular vacation dates. The cottage is generally quiet and peaceful 95% of the year.
