Sandhill Crane migration at White Water Draw. I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea but it is truly so worth it! Thousands of sandhill cranes migrate to White Water Draw every year. They start arriving in Southern Arizona in the autumn months and about 20k plus of them have arrived by January. They start heading out by early February so January is the month I'm picking for best veiwing. It takes about two and a half hours to reach McNeal, AZ from either Garcia House or Glenn House. The very best viewing time is at dawn so unless you're an avid birder, you're proabaly not going to make that one. The time we usually see them is when they're returning from their morning's feeding back and that is around noon and suddenly the skies are filled with them! It's marvelous! There's loads of other birds too but these guys are the highlight with some of them traveling from as far as Siberia! Bring a picnic lunch, binoculars (we supply those!) and dress accordingly for the weather and doing some walking. Fun! Fun! Fun!
