Will my guest be sent a payment request for the security deposit due?
Yes, unless you collect the deposit at booking. Houfy emails the request to your guest on the due date itself, and you do not get a copy - check the reservation's Payment Status block to confirm it went out.

You must have a payment processor connected and be using the charge-through-Houfy option for Houfy to send payment requests to your guests automatically. Both settings sit on the listing itself: Manage Listings > Edit > Pricing > Rates & Fees, under Do you collect a security (damage) deposit? Set the amount there, choose Charge through Houfy rather than Collected by host, and then pick when the deposit is collected.
If you chose to collect the deposit At Booking, your guest already paid it with their first payment and no separate request is sent. For every other option Houfy emails the guest an automatic payment request.
Note that this request goes to your guest only - unlike the balance-due reminders, you do not receive a copy of the deposit request, so do not treat a missing copy as a sign it was not sent. You can confirm it went out on the reservation itself under Details, inside the Payment Status block.
How soon before the due date is the payment request sent?
It is not sent in advance - it goes out on the due date you chose, worked out in your listing's own timezone. The due date is the check-in date if you chose On check-in, or 1, 3 or 7 days before check-in if you chose one of those.
Will I be notified when my guest pays the payment request?
Yes - the payment appears on the reservation and you receive the normal payment notification.
None of this applies if your guest agreed to automatic payment at booking - in that case Houfy charges the deposit itself and sends no request.
