Waive Damage Deposit or security deposit for Houfy reservation

Last updated August 28, 2026

How to waive a damage deposit

  1. Open the reservation at houfy.com/reservation/details/{rescode}

  2. Find the Refundable Damage Deposit heading, with the deposit amount in a blue box.

  3. Click the grey Waive Deposit button under the amount. If the reservation is still awaiting a deposit request you will also see an orange Request Damage Deposit button beside it; if not, Waive Deposit is the only button there.

  4. A box headed Waive Security Deposit appears. Click Waive Deposit to confirm.

This cannot be undone. Waiving sets the deposit to zero, cancels any deposit charge that was scheduled, and removes the section from the reservation - there is no way to add the deposit back from this page. If you change your mind afterwards, contact Houfy support.

Who can waive

  • The host (the listing owner)

  • A cohost with access to the listing

If you cannot find a Waive Deposit button

If the reservation shows a Damage Deposit Status card instead - labelled Hold active, Charge scheduled, Deposit charged or similar, with Capture, Stop refund or Cancel buttons - the deposit is being handled automatically and cannot be waived from this page. Use Cancel while it is still pending, or contact Houfy support.
