Here at Gili's Cove Cottage and Blackwell Branch Cabin, our guests can enjoy fishing in Serenity Pond right outside their back door. It's the perfect spot to mess around with your new tackle, to help the kids land their first fish

There are many things we don't have here in our little corner of the mountains-- Walmart, strip malls, highways and traffic lights-- but one of the things we do have is easy, local access to some of the finest, freshest fruits and vegetables imaginable. Late Spring is the season for fresh, locally grown strawberries. Early summer is when all the wonderful Farmer's Markets open and growers from the entire region gather to offer the bounty of their harvests. Here in our little community

Jackrabbit Trail System is a hiking and biking trail system, part of the Nantahala National Forest, right here in our little corner of the mountains!

Looking for a close-by but "in the woods" hiking adventure? Look no further than nearby Jackrabbit Recreation Area of the Nantahala National Forest. With its miles and miles of biking & hiking trails-- in the woods and along the lakefront-- Jackrabbit is a short 10-minute drive from Blackwell Branch Cabin and Gili's Cove Cottage.

Fall days here in our little corner of the mountains don't get much better than what we're having lately-- chilly nights, cool mornings and warm, sunny days. And we haven't even reached the peak of leaf colors-- Fall's very own fashion show! Here's a great look at what we can expect here in the mountains of western North Carolina.

Let's go fishing! Hayesville offers spectacular lake fishing on the many miles of shore of Lake Chatuge. Wrapped the north of the lake from east to west and all along the north shore, Hayesville offers fisherman great opportunities for both shore fishing as well as out on the water with either your own boat or a rental.

Andrews, NC - Here's your chance to see an old-fashioned wagon train with covered wagons, teams of horses and mules, and every kind of wagon, cart and teamster imaginable. The Western North Carolina Wagon Train is an annual gathering of cowboys, pioneer enthusiasts and country folk who enjoy recreating life when horses, mules and oxen were the engines that powered life in rural America. #ourlittlecornerofthemountains

Ever wonder where all those plaids came from? And why? Visit the Scottish Tartans Museum & Heritage Center in Franklin, NC to learn both the ancient history of the Scottish tartans as well as our more recent Scotch-Irish heritage of the early settlers of our little corner of the mountains here in the Appalachian mountains.

The Len Foote Hike Inn is on the bucket list for many locals and out-of-towners looking for a unique day-hike adventure that includes waterfalls, the Appalachian Trail, rustic wilderness and a some great food (not to mention yummy cookies) at the end. This in-and-out trail is approximately 4.8 miles one-way, considered easy-to-moderate for the average hiker. If you go, be prepared with all the basic must-haves for any hike: jacket/fleece for cooler temps, rain jacket, first-aid

Waterfalls galore! Western North Carolina and north Georgia are known for the many waterfalls that can be found here. Visitors to Casa on the Creek can plan day trips over several day trips to visit nearby falls. Some of the closest can be found in the Standing Indian area of the Nantahala National Forest, just west of Hayesville, NC. Mooney Falls and Big Laurel Falls also happen to be two of our favorites!
