Crooked Mile Cottage is over 100 years old. Guests call it "charming," "quirky," and "a real Kiwi bach experience."
If you love old homes with character, cosy rooms, and a log fire in winter, you'll feel right at home. If you're after sleek finishes and a new-build feel, this probably isn't your place. Expect quirks, creaks, and patina — along with comfort and plenty of charm.
LOCATION
Sitting in the historic heart of Hokitika, we're one minute from the beach, two minutes to the river and Sunset Point, and a short stroll to cafés, shops, and restaurants. Many guests say they hardly used their car. We're also perfectly placed as a base for the wider West Coast — Fox Glacier, Franz Josef, Hokitika Gorge, and the TranzAlpine are all within easy reach.
INSIDE
The living spaces are compact but thoughtfully set up, with generously sized bedrooms. The kitchen is small but well-equipped — past guests often say "everything I needed was just there." The house sleeps up to 8, though keep in mind there is one bathroom and a dining table that seats four, with stools for extra guests.
