May to October is the time for nesting and hatching. If you are lucky, you may witness one of these amazing events.   Because of the current beach ordinances and recent conservation efforts, the turtle population is rising, and the chance of witnessing the laying or hatching of turtles has increased too.

Size: Adults can have a carapace (shell) length of 2.5 to 3.5 feet and weigh up to 350 lbs. Average Life Span: 47-67 years Nesting Season: May-October Peak Nesting Time: Late June through early July Typical Incubation Time: 48-55 Days Four species of sea turtles can be found on Escambia County beaches.

Sea turtle populations are declining worldwide through many threats; most of which are man-made. Coastal development, commercial fishing, climate change and illegal harvesting are just a few. Because of their slow rate of reproduction, populations have a hard time keeping up with the pressures facing them.

Tiki House is more than a vacation rental. It is our vacation home!  We purchased the home in 2015 because it is located in a quiet residential area right on the beach and the Gulf of Mexico. This beautiful area is full of beautiful homes, quiet beaches with the Emerald Coast's signature white sand. It is still close enough to walk, ride a bike on the trails, or take the free trolley during the summer to restaurants, bars, and shops. Or you could head east to the visit some of the most beautiful and preserved beaches that are part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. But we chose Tiki House specifically for its charm, character and amenities.  It has the largest private pool on the beach (according to our pool pro) and the perfect views from its many decks.
