Is Your Houfy Rental Agreement Visible to Guests Before They Inquire?
Learn if guests can view your Houfy rental agreement before inquiring or paying, and how to adjust its visibility settings for optimal booking control.

When you create a rental agreement with the Houfy Rental agreement creator, the setting Require rental agreement at the time of inquiry or booking request defaults to Mandatory.
What Mandatory does
The agreement is shown on the booking page, and the guest must read it, sign it and - if your agreement includes an ID field - upload a photo ID before they can continue to payment.
What it does not do
Despite the wording of the setting, it does not stop anyone contacting you. A guest who messages you from the Contact host page sends that inquiry without ever seeing the agreement. The same is true of a booking request sent to a host who has not yet connected a payment processor - there is no agreement step on that path either.
When a guest reaches you without signing, send them the agreement from the reservation: open the reservation, go to the Rental agreement section, and click Submission link.
Setting it to Optional removes the agreement step from the booking page altogether.
To change the setting
Log in to your Houfy account.
Click the plus icon in the top navigation bar and choose Rental agreement. You can also go straight to houfy.com/new/agreement.
Click the agreement you want to change. It opens in the agreement editor.
At the top of the left sidebar, click Settings (the gear button), then Additional settings.
Set Require rental agreement at the time of inquiry or booking request to Mandatory or Optional.
The change is saved the moment you choose it - there is no separate Save button for this setting.
