Hide, snooze or private: which one should I use?
Hiding, snoozing and making a listing private all remove it from Houfy search, but they behave very differently. Here is what each one does and when to use it.

Hosts often reach for whichever of these is closest to hand, and then wonder why the result was not quite what they expected. All three take your listing out of Houfy search. The difference is what happens to everything else — your listing page, your own Houfy website, your bookings, and whether it comes back on its own.

Hide
Hiding takes the listing off the Houfy marketplace. It disappears from search results and from your public Houfy profile, and guests who follow an old link to it are sent back to the Houfy home page instead. You can still open it yourself while signed in — you will see a note at the top telling you the listing is hidden — and you can keep editing it as normal.
The part hosts most often miss: hiding takes the listing off your own Houfy website too, not only the Houfy marketplace. A website you build on Houfy draws its listings from the same live set, so once a listing is hidden it stops appearing there as well. The same is true of snoozing and of making a listing private. If what you want is to keep a listing on your own website while it is out of Houfy search, that is not something hiding can do — leave the listing live and close off the dates you are not accepting in the calendar instead.
Nothing is deleted. Your photos, description, calendar, pricing, reviews and past bookings all stay where they are. A hidden listing stays hidden until you list it back yourself — there is no expiry date, so it is the right choice when you do not know yet when, or whether, you are coming back.
Snooze
Snoozing is a pause with an end date on it. You choose a number of months, and the listing drops out of Houfy search for that long.
Unlike hiding, the listing page stays online and public. Guests who already have the link, or who find it from your profile, can still read the description, look through the photos and read your reviews. What they cannot do is book: there is no date picker and no booking button, and the page tells them the listing is temporarily unavailable for new bookings.
When the date you picked arrives, the listing comes back into search by itself — you do not have to remember to do anything. If your plans change you can end the snooze early with Undo snooze and the listing returns straight away, exactly as it was.
Snooze is the right choice for a closed season, renovation work, or any pause where you already know roughly when you will be back.
Private
A private listing is not paused at all — it is just not advertised. It is kept out of public search, but it is fully bookable by anyone who has the link. Making a listing private needs a Lite or Premium plan.
It also needs a custom link. If the listing does not have one yet, Houfy asks you to set the Custom Link first, and the private switch will not turn on until you do.
There are two links that open it. The listing’s own custom link, houfy.com/h/your-custom-link, opens that one listing. Your private profile link, which looks like houfy.com/your-username/home?access_code=…, opens all of your private listings together. You copy either one from the listing editor and share it with whoever you want. You and any approved co-host can always open a private listing while signed in, with or without the link.
Private is for a property you only want to offer to repeat guests, to people who come through your own website or social channels, or to a particular group — not one you are taking off the market.
So which one?
Use private when the listing is still for rent but you want to choose who sees it. Use snooze when you are pausing and you know roughly when you are coming back. Use hide when you are stepping away indefinitely — nothing is deleted, your photos, pricing, reviews and past bookings all stay, and the listing comes back only when you list it back yourself.
