About this place

Light and cozy remodeled basement studio

Welcome to the Urban Nook, a recently remodeled basement studio ~ a fun & cozy hotel alternative!
Lower level of 1920's craftsman house on large private lot with separate entrance & easy parking.

Super stellar location in a close-in Portland neighborhood with great access to the city. Located on a major bike street & just blocks from the MAX train, shops, restaurants, parks, rose garden, food carts, natural grocery, bike rental & more. Walk/bike/train to everything you need!

The space
*PLEASE read all my house rules to make sure you have a successful stay ;-)
**Access to unit is down steep concrete stairs, there is a good handrail and anti-slip flooring but please don’t book if uncomfortable with steeper than normal stairs.

The space is the entire lower level of this duplex home. The laundry room is the only shared space. At 400 sq ft, it’s not huge but you will be amazed with the comfort & amenities packed in!

Note:
*Main level unit & entire home are also available to rent separately (see my other listings) perfect if traveling with family or friends.
*An electric car (Fiat 500e) is available to rent and charge on site, please ask for my Turo link for details & cost.

Large windows let in plenty of light with blackout curtains in case you want to sleep in, at night lamps & LED candles make the space super cozy. Enjoy the brand new kitchen with quartz counter, floating shelves & stainless appliances. Watch Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Disney Plus or cable (Hulu live tv) on the flat screen TV or curl up on the sofa to read a book. Vintage speaker plays radio or connects to your phone via Bluetooth. Large bathroom with tile & rain shower, glass divider & teak medicine cabinet. Shampoo/conditioner/body wash & two robes are provided for your use. There are plenty of cabinets & hooks to store your belongings. Mini-split high efficiency heater with AC, instant hot water, stained concrete floors & exposed beams.

Super comfy premium locally made mattress with down comforter & four fluffy pillows. Sofa is an American Leather Comfort Sleeper (newly added) that converts to a queen bed with extra pillow, sheets & comforter in the trunk by door. Kitchen stocked with everything you need to cook or warm-up leftovers, dishwasher makes clean-up a breeze. Make coffee with the coffee press, Keurig or pourover dripper or walk to a variety of coffee shops (closest & guest favorites Prince Coffee and The Stacks are only one block away) Coffee, tea, sugar, salt & pepper, olive oil, puzzles & games provided & stored in pantry cabinet. Private entrance with easy street parking or off street parking in the driveway & access to shared laundry room with washer/dryer.

Fun artwork & local knickknacks throughout. Be sure to look out both egress windows for a fun surprise view ;-)

After booking I will send you a link to my amenities shop which includes early check-in, late check-out, stocked pantry, fresh flowers & more.

Guest access
You have your own exterior gate & door. Entrance is through shared laundry room, then down basement stairs to another door that opens to basement studio. The entire basement level is yours only. Please be aware the stairs down to the basement are concrete and steeper than typical stairs.

Other things to note
Home has been remodeled but is old so although the layout is very functional & open please note that the queen bed is in a tight spot. It is possible to squeeze by bed to access closet but it is tight.

Access to unit is down steep concrete stairs, there is a good handrail and anti-slip flooring but please don’t book if uncomfortable with steeper than normal stairs.

I sound-proofed the ceiling as much as possible but you still may hear some footsteps from main level.

You may hear a soft hum when instant hot water heater turns on and when water drains from upstairs plumbing.

There is a Tosot de-humidifier by the door that keeps the air fresh, it turns on automatically and has an automatic pump. It is quiet (peak sound level 52 decibels) but if too noisy you can turn off, I also have one near basement stairs.

Not a good fit for young kids as this is a duplex, lots of running/noise is not great for the folks above.

Also if you are tall you may feel that the ceiling height is low (but is typical for basement height)
