About this place

Welcome to the Urban Fern!
This light-filled 1920's bungalow was completely remodeled, combining vintage Portland charm with modern comfort & amenities.

Perfect location in a close-in Portland neighborhood w great access to the city. On a major bike street just blocks from the MAX train, shops, restaurants, parks, food carts, grocery & more. Walk/bike/train to everything you need! Easy to get around w/out a car but if you bring one there is plenty of free street parking right out front.

The space
*PLEASE read all my house rules to make sure you have a successful stay ;-)

Your space is the entire main level of this duplex home, completely private & only accessible to you.

Note: Basement unit or entire home are also available to rent separately (see my other listings) perfect if traveling with family or friends.

LIVING ROOM
Relax on the sofa, watch Netflix, Prime, Disney Plus & cable (Hulu tv) or curl up with a book. Vintage Bluetooth speaker plays radio or connects to your device. The sofa folds out to a bed with a 8 inch full size mattress w latex mattress topper. In warmer months, open the back door & the deck is an extension of the living room. Built-ins store games, puzzles, magazines & books.

KITCHEN
A full-size gourmet gas range & microwave make it easy to cook from scratch or reheat your restaurant leftovers. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need including quality knives, pots, pans & cooking utensils, & a dishwasher to save on clean-up time.

Make fresh coffee in the morning with the coffee press or combo coffee pot/espresso machine (newly added). Or walk to one of 5 coffee shops within a 10-minute walk; closest & guest favorites (Prince Coffee & The Stacks) are just one block away or a little further to my favorite - Blend Coffee Lounge.

BATHROOM
Soak or shower in the vintage claw foot tub. A linen cabinet stores towels & a shelf for your toiletries. Two large robes folded in the closet for you to enjoy. Window has a screen & Indow insert for privacy.
*Please note the door to the bathroom is slightly through the bedroom so keep that in mind with guests sleeping on the sofa bed.

BEDROOM
Queen size bed with luxury locally made hotel line 12 inch mattress, down comforter & four pillows.
Bedroom now has own heat/AC, black out curtains & Indow window inserts & screens for a super quiet night’s sleep.
There's a closet with storage for your belongings. A trunk at the end of the bed stores bedding for the sofa bed.

OUTDOOR SPACE
During warmer months enjoy your morning coffee or evening beverage on the private deck. There are two chairs, a small table, loveseat rocker, umbrella & string lights for ambiance at night (remote is inside by sofa)

ARTWORK
The barn-wood framed prints hanging throughout the home are made by my sister, an amazing watercolor artist. Just in case you fall in love with one they are all for sale & available to take home with you. Greeting cards & magnets are also available for purchase.

After booking I will send you a link to my amenities shop which includes early check-in, late check-out, stocked pantry, fresh flowers & more!

Guest access
You'll have access to the entire main level of the home, private entrance (yellow door) & back deck.
The basement is a separate unit so there may be some limited noise from below but is sound proofed as much as possible.

Not a good fit for young kids as this is a duplex, lots of running/noise is not great for the folks below.

The only shared space is the laundry room, both units have access to the laundry room but each have their own entrances & secure locks. If you prefer to have no interaction - no problem, just keep the laundry room door closed and locked.
You may see me, my family or other guests if accessing the laundry room. You are welcome to use the washer/dryer (9am-9pm) laundry soap is available for you to use.

Other things to note
Bathtub
The bathroom has a claw foot tub/shower combination. Many guests love this old home feature but some may find it difficult to climb in/out of the tub to shower.

Kids
Not a good fit for young kids as this is a duplex, lots of running/noise is not great for the folks below.

Church Next Door
The old church next door is lovely. Most people enjoy hearing the soft music from the church if on the back deck Sunday morning. Sometimes the beautiful stained glass windows light up in the evening!
