The Rocky Roost is a three bedroom/three bath (sleeps 8), hand-hewn log cabin located in Banner Elk/Seven Devils, NC. This inviting cabin is thoughtfully furnished and artfully decorated with a well stocked kitchen, fireplace, pool table, fire pit, and incredible screened porch with stylish hand-crafted furniture. Year-round activities include ski slopes, Grandfather Mtn, hiking, snow tubing, zip line, alpine coaster, Tweetsie Railroad, golfing, shopping and more!! We are a no pet and no smoking home.

Brian and I have both spent the majority of our lives in North Carolina and have raised our children here. Coming to the mountains as a family has always been a highlight! We are big hikers, and love getting on the trails any time of year. Nothing beats finding a cool, mountain swimming spot on a challenging hike in the hot summer!! We also love hiking in the winter, bundling up to enjoy the snow covered terrain. Of course, the fall in the NC mountains is heavenly with the cool breezes and gorgeous leaf colors. Not to be outdone, springtime with literal mountains of blooming rhododendron surrounding you is a sight to behold!

Getting around

We have room for 3 vehicles during your stay. Two in front of the house, and one on the road. You may pull straight in, or go past our house, turn around, then back in. Backing in will be better in the winter months. Please make sure you have access to 4WD/AWD and chains during the inclement weather.
