Welcome to our second vacation property, the Pearl by the Sea. Pearl by the Sea is a custom built home constructed in 2012. We purchase the Pearl in 2015 and have been renting it as a vacation rental since then.

The Pearl is adjacent to the Flip Flop Inn and sits on an ocean side lot at the end of a private cul-de-sac in the Village of Stump Sound. It has unobstructed ocean views (we own the ocean front lot in front of the Pearl and do not intend to build on it). We have equipped the Pearl in much the same manner as the Flip Flop Inn - with all the amenities we'd want in our home.

The Pearl accommodates 12 vacationers. On the first floor is a Master Suite with a King bed, a bedroom with a Queen bed, a bunk room with two bunk beds, and a second full bath. The main living level is on the second floor. On this level you will find the kitchen, dining area, sitting area, a half bath, and a Queen bedroom. The third level provides a very special Master Suite where you will wake up to beautiful ocean sunrises. Moon and star gazing are a favorite pastime on the private deck connected to this awesome suite.

The Pearl features an elevator connecting the ground level, first floor level and main living level, perfect for assisting elderly family members or just unloading the car on arrival or after a shopping trip.

Outside amenities include a sitting area with table, an outside shower, and a patio with a camp ground style stainless steel grill, perfect for grilling those hamburgers and hotdogs we all like on a summer retreat. We also provide beach chairs, lounges, and toys for the beach.

Kitchen amenities include a stove, refrigerator, oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, Keurig, standard drip coffee maker, Belgian waffle maker, griddle, crock pots, and well stocked dinnerware and utensils. A second refrigerator is located in the ground floor entry.

Bob and I have been married over 40 years. Bob graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering. Susan graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Business Administration. Our family bleeds wolfpack red since Bob also took graduate courses at NC State, both sons graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering and one daughter-in-law also graduated from NC State. We have five gorgeous grandchildren. Throughout our married life we have dreamed of owning a beach property we could call our own. In 1996, we took the leap and purchased a plot of sand in the Village of Stump Sound in North Topsail Beach. It remained an empty plot of sand until 2005 when we built our dream retirement home and gathering place for our extended family. The Flip Flop Inn was born. In 2015 we purchased the Pearl by the Sea next door. We have been creating memories with our extended family every since. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Minimum age limit for renters: 35
Minimum age for rental is 30 years of age. Responsible person signing contract must be present at the house.
Payment Policy
We do not accept credit card. Any fees charged by credit card will be added to rent payment due. Payment is by check only. We require payment of $500 and return of a signed contract before reservation is booked. 1/2 of total rent is due within two weeks of making reservation. Refundable Damage Deposit
Damage deposit fully refundable if premises are left undamaged and in clean condition. Normally refunded within 21 days after rental is completed.

Price includes base rental and departure cleaning. Summer months include linens. Additional $150 for linens outside of PRIME weeks.
Cancellation Policy
Reservations funds are not refundable. In the event of cancellation, we will try to rent your week, but cannot guarantee we will be able to do so at full price. We encourage all renters to purchase travel insurance.
House Rules
Minimum Age Requirement for rental is 30 years of age. Because our home is located in the Village of Stump Sound (VOSS), community rules are in place to ensure the peace, serenity and enjoyment of all guests, residents and owners. Please be respectful of all residents and guests Our home is a nonsmoking house. Pets are not allowed in the Pearl. VOSS rules are strictly enforced and violations may result in fines or surcharges being applied against the property owners. If a rule is violated by a guest of the Pearl, any fine or surcharge applied may be passed on to the guest. Parking is prohibited on the private street and cul-de-sac. There is ample parking in the driveways and under the house for up to six cars. Boats and trailers may only be parked under the house. Parking boats or trailers in the driveway, on the streets or on community property is prohibited. Renter is responsible for all damage to house caused by parking. Travel trailers and RVs are NOT permitted in the Village of Stump Sound and off-site parking must be arranged in advance for large boats and all RV's. Trash is collected on WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY mornings from April 1 through September. (Wednesdays only during the off-season). Recycle: WEDNESDAYS ONLY year-round. Trash receptacles may be put out on Tuesday and Friday nights only. After trash pickup, trash receptacles must be promptly returned to an area of the property not visible from the street. This rule is STRICTLY enforced by the VOSS HOA and fines levied is trash receptacles are left out. There is a beach crossover near the Pearl as well as a walkway to the beach through the village clubhouse. DO NOT WALK ON ANY PART OF THE DUNES. Walking on the dunes can erode them and put the island and property at risk during severe weather and high tides. The NTB fine for walking on the dunes is $500. The Village of Stump Sound community swimming pool is open during the summer months from sunrise to sunset. No more than 40 persons are allowed inside the pool area at a time. There is NO LIFEGUARD at the pool. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (21 or older) unless they have passed a swimming test.
