What is Calendar Sync?

Calendar sync is a way to integrate your calendar with other calendars to update all or some of the calendar data automatically.

In the vacation rental industry, Calendar Sync lets reservations on one calendar appear automatically on another. It works through a shared file format called iCalendar - the files usually end in .ics, in the same way documents end in .pdf or .xml.

With Houfy: importing a calendar keeps your Houfy calendar up to date with any external calendar that supports iCalendar, including Google Calendar, Airbnb, Booking.com and VRBO.

The correct way to synchronise Airbnb, VRBO and Houfy

TIP: keep all three browser tabs open while you do this.

  1. Export from Airbnb and export from VRBO, and import both into Houfy.

  2. Export from Houfy and export from VRBO, and import both into Airbnb.

  3. Export from Airbnb and export from Houfy, and import both into VRBO.

Important: when you export from Houfy, use the URL on the Houfy Reservations tab of the Export window - it contains only the bookings made on Houfy. Do not use the Master Calendar tab for this. That feed also contains the reservations Houfy imported from Airbnb and VRBO, so sending it back to them makes each platform re-import its own bookings and block the dates twice.

The Master Calendar feed is for a channel manager or a personal Google Calendar, not for a platform you already sync with.
