Not everyone can handle a whole week on the beach. Sometimes kids need a change of pace, a change of venue, and it isn't a bad idea for large groups to go their separate ways. Try planning a trip to the zoo one of your days at the beach. The Gulf Breeze Zoo is a great place to take (or send) those in your group who love animals and may need a change from the sun and surf.
The zoo has 50 acres of attractions, a train ride, alligator and giraffe feeding (separately, of course!) and more. It is a great place for little and big kids, alike. Check out their schedule of events to see what is currently going on there.
The best part of the zoo is the location! Just one bridge over and down 98 toward Navarre, you can beat the traffic and the heat by going early. Their hours of operation are:
January 1 - February 28: Open Daily 9AM - 4PM (Last admission 3PM)
March 1 - October 31st: Open Daily 9AM - 5PM (Last admission 4PM)
November 1 - December 31st: *Open Daily 9AM - 4PM (Last admission 3PM)
Rainy days at the beach are the days most animals at the zoo are the most active! Come prepared with a poncho and a camera to capture the animals (and your kids) having fun in the rain! And it is also the least crowded time to go too!
