Fort Payne vacation rentals

This was our second stay here in three years and plan a third stay for next year. We chose the week before Christmas and were so impressed with how tasteful the cottage was decorated for the season. With six adults, four kids ranging from 1-10 years old and a dog, the property offers plenty of room both inside and out. The combined great room and dining room is huge; perfect for a group our size. The island kitchen has everything you need and all the prep area you'd want. The kids loved sitting at the kitchen bar and ate all of their meals there. The three bedroom, three bath cottage fit our family to a T. The master suite and bathroom/dressing areas are huge. The cottage also boasts a wonderful main level guest room and private bath. Upstairs is another large guest room and bath plus a bonus room which three of my grandchildren loved. My favorite part of this cottage is the partial wrap-around screen porch. You'll enjoy a very large wood-burning fireplace, a Green Egg for grilling and a double-sized porch swing/bed. Napping was never better! Right off the screen porch is an outdoor seating area overlooking the valley. Perfect for coffee or cocktails and just four steps down to a large Solo outdoor fire pit. A great location as the cottage is very close to Little River Canyon trail so be sure to enjoy that when you visit. Easy drive to downtown Mentone. Also, Fort Payne is only about a 20 minute ride for shopping, restaurants etc.

We were very happy with our stay. Here are some of our highlights. We have a 18-month-old baby so the gate at the top of the stairs and the lack of breakable decor down low gave us much-needed peace to enjoy our stay. What we loved the most is this is the cleanest and most well-thought-out Vrbo we have stayed in and what is most surprising is it's the first dog-friendly vrbo we stayed in. Everything felt new and fresh. This cabin is an easy drive to DeSoto Falls or Mentone making it the perfect getaway with family, friends, or an anniversary. It is well stocked to wash a generous amount of dishes in the dishwasher, laundry, and supplies to keep the place clean and comfortable during your stay. Things that we felt were thoughtful were the goat soap, coffee, snacks, a few kitchen staples, and the breakfast vouchers. Do not skip out on the breakfast at Hatters Cafe. The service, atmosphere, and food were exceptional. We have only good things to say about our stay this weekend. Thank you for having us.

From the moment we arrived at the Otterbox Cabin, we fell in love with the area and the cabin. The cabin is beautiful and clean and had everything we could have asked for! The location was perfect- secluded, but still not far from Desoto Falls and the park and the canyon and restaurants. This was our first time in Mentone, and I never dreamed it was such a hidden gem. We did lots of hiking, even around the cabin itself, and sight-seeing and the Otterbox Cabin was the perfect place to come home to after a busy day out. We can’t thank you enough for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. We can’t wait to rent it again ,and hopefully the Coyote cabin as well, and bring our family back to experience the beauty of this area. It was a perfect weekend!

Our first stay at a Peaceful Retreats property was nothing short of magical. From the moment we stepped into the stunning and inviting Melody Ridge, we knew we had found a gem—and one we’d surely visit again. The house is immaculate, with a fresh, modern feel, and the whimsical music-themed décor added a delightful touch of charm. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to ensure our stay was exceptional. The “extras” truly set this experience apart. A beautifully arranged gift basket greeted us, complete with a voucher for a complimentary breakfast, delicious snacks, handmade soap, and what must be the best coffee we’ve ever tasted. Every element spoke to the care and warmth that Peaceful Retreats pours into their guests’ experiences. Savoring that incredible coffee on the back porch, with the fire pit casting a gentle glow to warm the crisp morning air, was a serene highlight. The symphony of nature—a soft breeze through the leaves, birds calling overhead—created a tranquil backdrop that felt like pure poetry. It’s hard to believe this peaceful haven is located in downtown Fort Payne. If you’re looking for a stay that combines impeccable comfort, thoughtful touches, and a sense of true escape, Peaceful Retreats delivers an experience that earns every single star. Everything you need or want is HERE! When you arrive you are met with a peaceful embrace by nature. Surrounded by woods, there is a hammock to swing lazily in while reading aka napping. The deck has a fire pit to enjoy morning coffee time or end the day with s’mores. But the beauty doesn’t stop there. When you step inside the glamper the relaxation and beauty continue! The kitchen has a full size stainless steel refrigerator and room to cook a full meal. It also has a serving bar and a dining table that seats 4 that invites you to linger longer around the dining table deep in conversation and memory making. The living area has a large tv and comfortable couches that is perfect for movies, sports, or games! The bathroom has a roomy walk in shower that even tall people can enjoy. Upstairs the loft is a spacious sleeping area. And the main floor bedroom is also a large area with a desk in front of the window that looks out into the wooded area and a queen size bed that is very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay here and we will rebook this glamper again soon!

I had the pleasure of staying at Crest View Lodge in the Mentone area with our senior GSCC DMS students a week before graduation, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. The spaciousness of the house was perfect for our large group, accommodating all of us comfortably. One of the highlights of our stay was the fantastic theatre room, where we enjoyed movie nights and created some unforgettable memories. It was also a place where we burned off lots of calories, thanks to exhilarating sessions of "Just Dance." The house offered various spaces for different activities. Card games brought us together in the dining room, while others engaged in board games in the cozy living room. The views from the property were nothing short of breathtaking, adding an extra layer of magic to our retreat. What truly impressed us was the attention to detail in every corner of Crest View Lodge. From the well-appointed bedrooms to the thoughtful amenities, it was evident that the owners had put a lot of care into making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We all had a peaceful and restful night's sleep, and it was hard for any of us to say goodbye the next day. Our retreat at Crest View Lodge was an unforgettable experience, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our time together with our students. Thank you for providing such a wonderful setting for our group, and we hope to return someday to create more cherished memories.

We reserved these 2 cabins (Coyote & Otter Box) for a Christmas celebration with family. It was new and clean and just the right setting for our gathering. There was even a Christmas tree with lights set up. It was a big plus for us that they allowed us to bring our little dogs, because we consider them a part of our family. The decks and firepit are wonderful, too. The ramps were so nice to have, in addition to the stairs. We loved the cozy blankets and the gas fireplace. The cabins were both toasty. There was plenty of hot water, towels and washcloths, and all the necessary amenities. Also, had a nice laundry room. We were in the mountains, yet close to town. We loved shopping in the nearby boutiques and we had a great experience dining at Mater's for outstanding pizza and service. We had to contact Misti for a couple of questions and she was super responsive and helpful. We highly recommend these properties if you are looking for a stay in a mountain retreat.
