My partner and I have been fortunate to stay at Alberta Nest several times during visits to Portland, and it consistently exceeds our expectations. This cozy guest house is a true find in the heart of the vibrant Alberta Arts District. The location could not be better. For those eager to explore the unique charm of the Alberta neighborhood, this is the ideal home base. You're just a short stroll away from some of Portland's most charming cafes, bars, galleries, and food trucks. And if you're keen on exploring beyond Alberta, the rest of Portland is easily accessible from here. The guest house itself is the perfect blend of comfort and style. The high ceilings and skylights make the space feel open and airy. A favorite feature is the private garden sitting area. It's a perfect little oasis for enjoying your morning coffee (supplies provided) or an afternoon glass of wine (picked up from a local shop). During our most recent stay, Portland experienced another heatwave, temperatures soaring above 90 degrees. I have to give a special shout-out to the excellent air conditioning—it was an absolute lifesaver after walking around the Last Thursday street party for a few hours. The hosts, Lorell and Jason, have put a lot of thought into making guests comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped, the bed is cozy, and the amenities are top-notch. You might even walk away with a few ideas! We are already looking forward to returning.

This is the second time we've stayed at this lovely home, and hopefully it won't be the last! It's situated on a quiet stretch north of Rockaway Beach proper with unobstructed views to the north (the neighboring home to the north is set back and behind a row of trees). The house feels private and secluded, perfect for couples or families. We've traveled here both times with extended family, and we love the well-stocked and spacious kitchen (no bumping into each other while cooking!) as well as the huge and bright living room (plenty of seating for everyone). The bedrooms offer a variety of options, from a decadently large master suite and bathroom to two normal-sized bedrooms (one with a queen bed, one with two bunkbeds). My husband and I have ended up in the bunkbed room both times, and they're more comfortable than expected! The two other rooms have super-comfy beds. The beach is engrossing enough, but Cannon Beach/Manzanita are relatively short drives north, and the larger town of Tillamook (along with the Cheese Factory, a Fred Meyer, and the fantastic cult brewery de Garde) is about 20 minutes south. The owners are quick and responsive with emails, and everything related to the house (from check-in to check-out) is straightforwardly described in all instructions. There is a set of stairs that you have to navigate (you enter on the lower level and then walk up a half-flight to the main floor), so it isn't a good property for anyone with accessibility requirements. Otherwise it's perfect! Everyone in my family (including the various dogs that have visited) agrees that this will be a yearly journey for sure.

With great hosts and a wonderful view, there is a reason why you will leave Happy Valley, Oregon happy. Leading up to our trip, Adrienne kept the lines of communication open between us to make sure we were all squared once we arrive. She was so thoughtful as well by providing us with some potential activities we could do in the greater Portland area. The drive through the neighborhood was gorgeous, scenic, and easy to navigate through. Earlier Adrienne had sent us easy to follow instructions (with pictures as a bonus) but upon our arrival we were greeted with a cheerful smile and handy dandy notes for extra amenities like a fan for white noise and a high powered flashlight for those critters that go bump in the night. As soon as you walk in through the space you can tell that great care and effort has gone into ensuring the space is impeccably clean and tastefully decorated so it's like your home away from home. The kitchen is fully equipped with new/ like-new appliances, cookware, and utensils. The living room is furnished with a comfy couch, soft and shaggy throw rug, a cozy fireplace and tv - Perfect for cuddling and winding down after the day's adventures. The sliding doors lead to a full length covered porch that looks out to Mt Talbert which we highly recommend for a peaceful quick morning hike to start off your day. The bedroom is the epitome of comfort and relaxation with a queen size bed and cloud-like pillows, duvet and bed sheets. The bathroom is up to date and spacious with aromatic shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The highlight of our stay was all the wonderful home baked goods and fruit left thoughtfully at our door step every morning. We can definitely say we left Happy Valley with the much needed good vibes and feels for our trip back home. Thank you Adrienne and Mike for going above and beyond extraordinary host duties!

This beautifully appointed town house surrounded us with warmth and luxury immediately upon our arrival. Every last amenity has been provided. And everything about the home makes you feel like you belong there! It was very clean and very neat, even the dishes and glasses were all in immaculate order and great supply! I couldn't think of one thing that we needed (5 adults) that wasn't provided except for the wine! The owners, Cara and Keith, were always available by phone call should we need anything (which we didn't) or such we have questions (Like "help" the guys couldn't get the TV on since they pushed all the wrong buttons!). The view of the ocean is spectacular and the walk to the unspoiled beach through the beautiful dunes is so nice. Its a great jumping off point also should you want to travel to Depoe Bay to go whale watching in a 6-passenger Zodiak with Marine Biologist Carrie Newell, eat a delicious prime rib or fresh salmon dinner while traveling on the local dinner train, go to Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach to see the tidal pools and to learn about what you are seeing from local guides, to eating at Pirates Cover Restaurant (strip steak with Dungeness crab and homemade hollandaise sauce), to visiting Portland and eating a super-sized glazed donut at Voodoo Donut Shop, to just simply sitting on the deck viewing the amazing sunsets. I love the fact that everywhere we went all of the food and drink and desserts were made from locally grown products. I would highly recommend staying here and hope that I will someday get a chance to stay again. Not one of us was ready to come home and we all live at the beach in SC. Where else can you go to stay in such luxury and also be able to drive along the coast highway looking at the majestic fir covered mountains, pastures with cows grazing and the sea - all at the same time! Thank you Cara and Keith for one of our very best vacations ever! I highly recommend staying.

Maria's guest house is everything you would expect on a vacation! I want to begin by saying that during these days where cleanliness is important to keep each other safe during the pandemic, Maria takes every precaution to ensure her guests safety! I must say that when a host cares for your health as much as Maria, that provides a peace of mind that is priceless. The guest house itself is gorgeous (and that's an understatement). It's decor, furniture, and utilities are nothing less than class; it makes you feel at home immediately. A few things that stood out: Cable TV with Smart TV options, a Study to do your work with great WIFI, an immaculate bathroom, a kitchen with every cooking utensils you would need, a bedroom with the most comfortable bed and bathrobes for him and her, wooden floors, plenty of light to make your days wonderful, and convenient washer and dryer. Outside of your private door, leads to a backyard that is nothing short of tranquil. The location is in one of Oregon's nicest neighborhoods! Filled with all the conveniences nearby, from grocery stores, department stores, parks, trails to hike, lakes, restaurants, and to an easy 15 minutes to downtown Portland. Maria and her husband Philippe are two very caring hosts, who go out of their way to provide privacy, safety, and answer questions on the best places to go for those of us new to the area. I had a truly magical time at Maria's place, I hope you enjoy it just as much.

We originally were supposed to be a party of 3, but our friends decided to join us last minute. The home had plenty of space to accommodate all of us (4 adults and 2 12 year old boys) with room left over. The neighborhood is adorable, with lots of kids playing around (be mindful of speed), and felt very safe. Nighttime was peaceful without being disturbed by traffic because the home is set back from a major street, yet it’s still very close to amenities (groceries, gas, restaurants). Kitchen was well stocked with amenities and extras for mornings before skiing and meal prep afterwards. We found the foosball table to provide A LOT of entertainment in the evening for the group which made for some fun times. There’s also an air hockey table in the loft which was fun as well. Bathrooms were quite nice with good water pressure in both showers (something we find VERY important). Lastly, the beds were great. They were comfortable, the linens were soft, and warm, and there were enough pillows. I have stayed at other rentals that have failed miserably in this category, so I’m always one to comment on bed quality. This home hit the mark, which is a huge bonus when you’re exhausted after a long day at Bachelor! Would recommend to anyone this rental. We were abundantly happy with our visit!

We found this home really wonderful! We arrived super late at the townhome, but it was still easy to find and enter. (Be aware the address is on the wooden posts, not the alpha-numeric code on the glass - I think that is for resort purposes). The home was a great size for us (a family of 4) and the kids loved using the foosball table in the garage and the sleds provided on the sled hill 1 min walk to the right out the front door. The heated garage was really nice and made for super easy loading and unloading. We never had to deal with a cold car that the kids didn't want to get into. The main reason for our visit was skiing and the location was as good as it gets in the area. You can walk to the town for restaurants or the general store. You have to drive everywhere else, but that is the nature of the Mt Hood ski area. The house was really clean. I actually don't think I've ever stayed in a vacation rental so clean before. The dishes were clean and everything felt good to use - nothing was yucky. You'd have to be mobile since there are 2 flights of stairs in the house. Our 6 yr old actually broke his leg while skiing at Meadows and after that, it was tough getting him up and down the stairs. Not an issue at all for 2 legged walking people, but an issue for anybody with mobility issues. Finally, Peter was really kind. He said we can call him if we need help even at 1am. That was really thoughtful, considering we were arriving so late.

Karen's place is wonderful in every way. It is very tastefully decorated without being cluttered, has everything you could possibly need or want from crock pot to kite. I am a neat-freak and germophobe and this is the only place I have ever stayed where I felt right at home from the first moment. The view is amazing, the entire home is so well appointed that we could find nothing wanting at all. Great touches like the lamp in the bathroom, dishes on the night stands for jewelry or small items, games and puzzles and books, blankets for snuggling on the couch, extra pillows, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, remotes as well as keyboard for tv and even an ipod dock, in addition to great wifi. The kitchen is amazing and extremely well appointed, furniture very comfortable, deck has chairs, table and umbrella, and there is a full size washer and dryer. We honestly could find nothing at all that was lacking. One thing that Karen mentioned in her description to keep in mind is that the bathroom is on the lower level with the bedrooms, while the kitchen and living area are on the upper level. If you have issues with stairs, keep this in mind. That said, the stairs have TWO rails (what a Godsend!) and are not overly steep. I have bad knees and had no problems.
