Traffic conditions vary throughout the year and it is important to heed signage and directions from Caltrans and the CHP. In the winter you are required to carry chains at all times in your vehicle. This is not only a smart thing to do, but if you come across a chain check point and do not have chains with you CHP will not let you continue.This can greatly impact your travels and enjoyment of your time in the mountains.

We also use KBHR for information about weather and road conditions. Please follow all directions given by local authorities and do not try to outsmart them. They are there for your safety and you do not want to wind up like the folks in this news story.
