Tintern is a famously beautiful riverside community in the stunning scenery of the Wye Valley. It is a quiet place on the whole particularly in the evenings when the Abbey closing bell has rung and calm returns. Summer days are busy with visitors enjoying the Abbey, various events and festivals , lots of walkers and cyclists passing through - and everyone loves the pubs. There is brilliant walking from the cottage doorstep , several good eateries , a craft centre and an antiquarian bookshop a stroll away and you are surrounded by nature and by history. The cottage has amazing views of the famous Abbey which is illuminated at night.

A car is recommended for your convenience if you want to visit more of this beautiful area during your stay although there is a bus service from Monmouth and Chepstow ( also the nearest railway station) which stops almost at the bottom of our drive. The Wye Valley is a well known cycling area so bring your bike too! We have a lockable shed.

The trains from Chepstow make the international sporting events, culture, arts and shops of Cardiff very easily accessible.

There are several excellent pubs / restaurants , cafes and eateries in the village and groceries can be ordered on line for delivery to the house. We are walking distance to several wedding venues.

We are often chosen for significant birthdays, anniversaries and weddings and consider this an honour.

There is masses to do without using your car. There is a bus stop almost at the bottom of our drive too.

Pets are charged at flat rate £25 for 7 nights or £15 for up to 4 nights per pet. Please pay us direct for your pets. Contact us in advance of arrival to do this.
