About this place

Comfortable 3 BR Craftsman Bungalow (small dog OK)

Our 3 bedroom craftsman bungalow is located on a quiet residential street in Bay View, one of Milwaukee's most vibrant neighborhoods. It's an easy walk to popular restaurants and a quick drive to Lake Michigan. The house offers plenty of light, airy, kid-friendly space with original hardwood floors, a full kitchen, and fast 100 Mb/s WiFi. Your group will have the entire house. We offer self-check-in and clean thoroughly between guests. Guests may bring a small dog ($25 extra charge). NO PARTIES.

Built in 1919, our three-bedroom craftsman bungalow is located on a quiet residential street in Milwaukee's vibrant Bay View neighborhood.

Several popular restaurants and bars are within walking distance, including Burnhart's, Honeypie, Huê, Hungry Sumo, and Sven's. It's an easy drive, a quick bus ride, or a leisurely walk to Collectivo Coffee, Outpost Natural Foods, Groppi's Market, and many other great local businesses.

Beulah Brinton Park is located two blocks away with a playground, sports fields, and outdoor basketball courts. The whole family will enjoy hanging out at South Shore Park on Lake Michigan (about a 5 minute drive). It's also a quick drive or pleasant walk to Chill on the Hill at Humboldt Park. Need some quiet time? We're just around the corner from the Bay View Library.

We've owned this house for years, and done our best to preserve and restore its character while accommodating the necessities of modern life. Here's what you'll find inside:

The first floor includes the dining room, living room, kitchen, bathroom, and a bedroom room with a full-size bed. Two more bedrooms are located upstairs: a spacious master bedroom with a king bed and a smaller kid-friendly bedroom with a twin-over-full bunk bed.

The kitchen includes a gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, and all basic cookware. You can travel light: a clothes washer and dryer are available in the basement. Relax on the outdoor deck or the front porch. We also have a sandbox in the side yard.

Although we now live in Iowa, we love this house and stay in it each time we return to visit our Milwaukee friends and family. Please treat our place and our neighbors with respect: NO PARTIES, no indoor smoking, no drugs.

The house has fast 50 Mb/sec WiFi. There is a large TV in the living room, a small one in the downstairs bedroom, and a medium-sized one in the master bedroom. All three TVs receive broadcast (over-the-air), and the ones in the living room and master bedroom have Roku boxes that you can use to log into your own Netflix or Hulu subscription (we don't have a subscription for the house itself). The living room TV also has a DVD player (it plays regular DVDs, US/Canada standard, not BluRay).

The house does not have central air conditioning, but we have window air conditioners in each bedroom. The house is a few blocks from Lake Michigan; our micro-climate is usually a few degrees cooler than the rest of the city in summer, and a few degrees warmer in winter. We participate in the WE Energies "Energy for Tomorrow" program at the 100% level for electricity from renewable sources.

At the urging of our chihuahua-terrier, we now allow small pets (one cat or well-behaved dog per guest). Please bring your own pet bedding - pets are not allowed on the beds. An additional $25 per stay will be requested separately (it is not included in the total shown in your Airbnb price quote). Additional charges will apply in case of furniture gnawing or other damage. The Bay View Dog Park is 4 blocks away for off-leash fun!

There are hundreds of great bars, brew pubs, and clubs in Milwaukee, but our house is not one of them. This is a vacation stay for families and business travelers. WE DO NOT ALLOW PARTIES. Also, we do not allow indoor smoking. No marijuana. No drugs. Noise levels are monitored continuously (no sound is recorded). NO PARTIES. Thank you.

Getting around

Our house is located about a 10 minute drive south of downtown Milwaukee, and about 15 minutes drive north of the airport. If you are coming from MKE airport and do not want to take a taxi or rent a car, you can take the Green Line bus to Howell & Homer (from there it's about a 5 minute walk to the house). If you are coming from the train station, you can walk east to Water Street and then take Route 15 south to Kinnikinnick & Otjen.
