Clean and uncluttered. Plenty of space. A much-appreciated basket of snacks were awaiting us upon arrival. The kitchen has all the appliances one could want, and plenty of nice dishes, pots and pans, etc. (It doesn't feel as if the owners were trying to outfit the apartment as minimally as possible.) Comfy beds. Lovely terrace. Nice to have the opportunity to do our laundry. Quiet as well, as most of the building houses offices, not apartments. The owners were great about responding to questions and providing us with plenty of info -- and all the guidebooks were a very thoughtful addition. One caveat and a small suggestion. Suggestion: provide a simple translation or "graphic" for the washing machine and dryer. Our "welcoming person" DID explain it, but most of it was forgotten in the midst of arrival and a lot of additional information being offered. The German labelling did not give many hints about all the options on the dial! The caveat is location. The apartment is in a "regular" neighborhood on a central street. So if you are wanting the convenience of being near the tourist-y neighborhoods and sites, this may not be your place. The neighborhood is fine -- perfectly safe -- and has a grocery store across the street (and also shoe stores and a bakery and banks and insurance companies and mysterious other things). But it is a schlep to get to the museums and archeological sites and more interesting areas (about 30 minute walk). Not close to Metro (which, by the way, is a great system). And we did not decipher the bus system, except for one ride. Plenty of taxis, though (but be prepared: while most Greek people seemed to speak/understand plenty of English, and even my minimal bad Greek, the taxi drivers almost universally did not). (Also, the photo o the night-lit Parthenon must have been taken through a telescope.) LOVED the rooftop terrace! Thank you for a wonderful trip!

Long before we arrived in Greece, Carole made us feel welcome. Thanks to her generous emails and extensive preparatory notes (adapted to each apartment), we had a good idea of what to expect. Then came the big surprise: our actual experience turned out even BETTER than expected. If you have read the descriptions of Carole's five apartments on VRBO, and thought to yourself, "They sound too good to be true," think again. The Heritage House apartment was exactly as described at VRBO, but its location still astonished us. The green Hill of the Pnyx was our "back yard." The green Agora site was our "front yard." We walked from the apartment to the Acropolis and to the new Acropolis Museum on a pedestrian street. We spent three days in Athens before encountering car traffic! Both the facade and the interior of Heritage House are exceptionally attractive. The owners, even more so. Babis and Xenia know better than most owners how to be welcoming and helpful, and also how to respect your privacy. We enjoyed some lively conversations and some good advice---but not one intrusion. Note that although the great classical sites are very close, the little necessities of life sit even closer: grocery store; bakery; pharmacy; ATM; etc. You are also comfortably near to the Thissio Metro station and to numerous bus lines. Restaurants and cafes are also present in abundance, but we rarely visited them, as it was so very pleasant to enjoy a meal or a drink on our own little open-air "terrace" above the back garden. We have been to Greece multiple times, but we had no idea that living in Athens could be so agreeable and peaceful and green. Did I mention the great beds; the spacious shower; the excellent wi-fi; the appliances that all work perfectly? Unless you are deeply devoted to hotel-type services, we doubt you could find a better accommodation anywhere in Greece than in one of Carole's splendid apartments.

Our group was made up of three families with kids ranging from 4 to 14 years old. The flat was perfect for our group as each family had their own bedroom and bathroom space. The kitchen made it easy to provide snacks and breakfasts for the kids, especially with the fresh produce we bought at the local farmer's market. Our kids really enjoyed hanging out on the terrace away from parents (we enjoyed that too!) The view from the terrace was inspirational, especially at night to see the Acropolis lit up in all of its glory. Amazing to think that view has been enjoyed for thousands of years! The apartment is centrally located to bakeries, groceries, and many excellent dining establishments nearby. We enjoyed trying the different places each night and even had a good laugh over hiking to one and finding it closed. The next one on the list was delicious and we enjoyed a good stroll to work up our appetites. Besides the apartment the services offered by Carole will make this the easiest vacation you have ever planned! Her drivers picked us up and delivered us to the apartment even with crazy arrival times like 11:30 pm and 4:00 am. Nadia gave us really fun tours of the city and we would highly recommend her for tours with kids in tow. Her experience as a nanny makes her extremely patient as some of our littlest members grew weary of history and rallied their spirits with a well timed ice cream break. I would highly recommend the Foodie Tour as a great way to explore the markets and try many local flavors. Nadia was brilliant at describing what we were about to experience and shared all of her favorite places with us. Don't miss this one! I spent a month in Ricardo and Maria's cosy studio while attending classes nearby. The place was very clean and was as described in the listing. Ricardo and Maria are very responsive and could be reached very easily by phone or through messaging. They were very kind and even dropped off some fresh eggs and produce from the countryside where they live. The apartment is on the first floor (only a few steps) of the building and is easily accessed with a key, while feeling secure. It is located near the very busy Alexandras Avenue where you can find shops, cafes and grocery stores. Also, the location is a 10-12 minute walk into the heart of Exarchia, where there are many restaurants, bars and cafes. There is a nice outdoor cinema around the corner that plays old films in the summer beginning at 9pm. Nearest metro stop is a 20 minute walk and buses are readily available around the corner. Enjoyed my stay and hope to be back!
We had such a great experience staying at Lena’s place! The home was spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The AC was great, the kitchen was very well equipped and homely, and the wifi enabled me to work from home in online meetings. The location was perfect – close to lots of restaurants and cafes, and a 15-20 minute walk to the metro station. There was also a fantastic weekly market with delicious fresh fruit and other produce on the street below. Lena was incredibly responsive and made check-in/check-out very easy with the lockbox. She even welcomed me with some local feta and sesame sticks! I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Athens!
