Plymouth Cheese is the second-oldest cheese factory in the United States. It was founded in 1890 by Calvin Coolidge’s father, John Coolidge. It’s a state historic site in Vermont…and they still make the original recipe cheese that was made in 1890—a very early version of Vermont Cheddar.”

There is a small and very quaint museum upstairs that tells about the history of Plymouth Cheese.
The Plymouth Cheese Factory was started in the late 1800's by Captain John Coolidge, President Calvin Coolidge's father. He started it to make good use of the left-over milk from the farm.
