  1. Absolutely NO SMOKING in the house or anywhere on the property. Please be sure visitors are aware.
  2. Absolutely NO PETS. Please be sure visitors are aware.
  3. NO EVENTS. Maximum occupancy and day-time visitors: 6 people
  4. Be considerate with night time noise.
  5. The cottage is on a septic system with a lift station. Nothing but water-based liquids, toilet paper or anything that a human body produces can go down any drain/toilet, please! Even items that are labeled "septic safe" are not septic safe! Coffee grounds, hair from your brush, food scraps, paper towels, grease and oil are extremely problematic if they get in our drains! Our septic system uses a pump that can get damaged by these items. We have glass jars under the kitchen sink that you can use to pour in waste liquids like grease/oil that you need to dispose.
  6. Please do not move bedroom furniture. Any other furniture that is moved should be put back where it originally was by check-out. Please be careful to avoid damaging the wood floors.
  7. No illegal activities. Keep in mind that downloading movies from the Internet could be unlawful. My Internet service provider monitors this type of activity and they will threaten to cut my service if this happens!
  8. Never have a fire if the weather is not conducive or there's no one to monitor the fire or embers. The garden hose on our house next door can be used to douse the fire/embers.
  9. Please close the patio table umbrella when unattended and overnight. Unexpected winds occur often and can cause damage.
  10. If heat or A/C are on, then windows and exterior doors must be shut.
  11. Please do not turn off the automatic and sensor lights on the peak of the front of the house. This switch is located upstairs on the east wall near this light.
  12. Always wear something on your feet outside and in the lake. The decks can get hot and you never know if there's something sharp around the fire pit, on the beach or in the lake. Water shoes, old sneakers and sandals are options for water footwear.
  13. The dock can be slippery if you're wet or it's wet. So you'll want to warn the kids NOT to run on the dock.
