Watering Holes on the Water in St Augustine FL

Looking for a great view to enjoy your favorite beverage in St. Augustine? Here are the favorite local's spots.

Vilano Beach Area

Cap’s on the Water is located between St. Augustine and  Ponte Vedra  just over the Vilano Bridge heading north on A1A.  It's a short drive through downtown and over the bridge, but definitely worth it. With great atmosphere and one of the most beautiful "old Florida" settings on the water, you won't be disappointed. The bar area is beautiful and they even have a cozy fire pit. Many patrons come by boat and tie up at the restaurant's dock. This is one of the most beautiful places to watch the sunset and enjoy a delicious meal.

Aunt Kate's is Located on Vilano Beach and also a great example of the old Florida setting. This is a great waterfront location surrounded by oak trees draped with Spanish moss. There is a waterfront deck for casual dining on picnic tables as well as inside dining. Aunt Kate's location also serves up some beautiful sunsets to go along with that drink.

Historic downtown area.

These are bayfront views and the all time favorite of locals is the Tini Martini Bar. Sit back, sip your drink while surrounded by twinkling lights, spectacular water features and cozy fireplaces.

Also downtown is Meehan's Irish Pub. Sit on the porch for a great view of the bay.

Happy hour on Friday night at The Bar With No Name has a view of the Bay and the Fort and great live music.

On Anastasia Island

Nestled in a neighborhood in Davis Shores just over the Bridge of Lions headed South on Anastasia Island you will find the Conch House Resort and Marina. This bar is a must if you’re visiting us. If you walk past the restaurant down the dock you will find an incredible . They have great live music here and you’re surrounded by boats and fishing charters coming in with their catch of the day.  You can also look to your West and get a good view of the sunset in the sky. They are famous for their Goombay Smash, St. Augustine’s signature drink and Reggae Sunday. Try to get a seat in one of the tiki huts and watch the pelicans and egrets.

I also want mention a great local hotspot called Hurricane Patty’s. It sits in a Marina right off Route 1 close to downtown. It has a outdoor deck, live music and fabulous views of the marsh and the intercoastal. I probably should also mention it has some of the best Hurricanes in St. Augustine. They come in categories one through five.

Another spot off of  Route 1 is Creekside Dinery overlooking Gonzales Creek It has an outdoor bar and a fire pit to sit around and make s’mores. They have an outdoor stage with live music too. This is a fun spot, especially in the cooler weather to have a cocktail.

Closer to the beach is The Beachcomber on A street. This is actually the closest thing we have to beach bar. Its tucked behind the dunes and the beach is just a few steps away.

If you just looking for a view and don’t need to be right on water, you can sit on the upper deck at Salt Life and enjoy live music or take in the sunset from the upper deck at Sunset Grill.

South of St. Augustine Beach

If you head  down A1 A South almost down to Marineland, you will find another locals favorite… Matanzas Inlet Restaurant. This spot is everything you could ask for. It has views of the ocean, the intercoastal, the sunset and the moonrise. This spot is incredible. It is the perfect place to watch a gorgeous sunset in St. Augustine. There's a chance you might see dolphin, manatees, sea turtles and all the beautiful marsh birds in this area.
