SMS Terms For the United States

By requesting, joining, agreeing to, enrolling in, signing up for, acknowledging, or otherwise consenting to receive one or more text messages from Houfy ("Opt In"), you agree to these SMS Terms and the handling of your personal information as described in the Houfy Privacy Policy. Message and data rates may apply. You also agree to resolve disputes with Houfy as described in our Terms of Service.

These SMS Terms apply to text messages we send to mobile numbers in the United States. If your number is outside the United States, the messages we send you are covered by our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy, and your local rules on marketing and electronic communications may give you additional rights.

Houfy will use reasonable commercial efforts to deliver automated text messages to the mobile number you provide. However, we are not responsible for any delays or undelivered messages, and wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages either.

What we send

We send text messages about your account and your bookings. These include, for example, verification and sign-in codes, booking requests, confirmations and changes, messages from a host or guest you are dealing with, and security alerts. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. You do not have to agree to text messages in order to use Houfy or to make a booking. Message frequency varies - we text you in response to your account and booking activity, so how many messages you receive depends on how you use Houfy. Message and data rates may apply.

By opting in to receive text messages

1. Authorization. You expressly authorize Houfy to send automated text messages to the mobile phone number associated with your Opt In. You do not have to Opt In or agree to Opt In as a condition of purchase.

2. Consent to electronic documentation. You consent to the use of an electronic record to document your Opt In. To withdraw that consent, email us at info@houfy.com, use the contact details in section 18 of our Terms of Service, or manage your notification preferences in your account settings. Withdrawing consent may limit certain features of our service.

3. Ownership confirmation. You confirm that you are the current subscriber to the Opted In mobile phone number or that you are the customary user of that number on a family or business plan and that you are authorized to Opt In. You agree to tell us if you stop using that mobile number, by updating it in your Houfy account settings. If a number you gave us is reassigned to someone else, you agree that we may stop sending messages to it.

4. Age. You must be at least 18 years old to agree to receive text messages from us.

How to stop receiving text messages

To stop receiving text messages from us, reply STOP to any text message we send you. This stops all further text messages to that number. You can also email info@houfy.com, turn text messages off in your notification preferences in your Houfy account settings, or tell us in any other reasonable way. We will act on those requests as soon as we can, and in any case within 10 business days. Stopping text messages does not close your account, and we will still email you about your bookings and send you anything we are required to send.

Changes to these SMS Terms

We update these SMS Terms from time to time. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you by email or through Houfy at least 30 days before it takes effect.
