How to Set Changeover Days for Check-In and Check-Out

You can choose specific days of the week when guests are allowed to check in and check out. Follow the steps below to configure these changeover days in your listing.

Changeover days let you restrict which days of the week guests may arrive and depart. There are two places to set them and they behave differently, so choose based on whether you want the restriction to be permanent.

1. Permanent changeover days (recommended)
  1. Go to Manage Listings and click Edit on the listing.

  2. Open Pricing (or go straight to houfy.com/edit-listing/YOUR-LISTING-ID/pricing) and expand the Stay Rules section.

  3. Under Check-in Days (optional) and Check-out Days (optional), select the days you want to allow. All days selected means any day is allowed, so to allow Sunday arrivals only, leave Sun selected and deselect the other six. Each click saves on its own - there is no Save button for these.

This setting has no end date. It applies to every date on your calendar that is not covered by a season or a rule set.

2. Changeover days for one date range only
  1. Go to Pricing > Seasons, add a season, and set its check-in and check-out days. The season form holds the season name, start and end dates, minimum stay and rates; the check-in and check-out changeover checkboxes sit at the bottom of it, one row of days for each.

Important: seasons do not repeat. A season applies only between its own start and end dates, and once its end date passes the season stops applying entirely, including its changeover days. Your calendar then falls back to the Stay Rules setting in step 1. If you want the same changeover day every year, set it in Stay Rules, or create a new season for each year.

If your listing is connected to a channel manager, the Seasons page is not shown. Use Stay Rules or the calendar instead.

3. Changeover days for specific dates
  1. Go to Manage Listings > Calendar (or Edit Listing > Calendar).

  2. Highlight the dates you want to change (direct link: houfy.com/edit-listing/YOUR-LISTING-ID/reservations/calendar). The panel that opens has two switches for those dates - Check-in allowed and Check-out allowed - so you can block arrivals or departures on exactly the dates you highlighted. The panel also tells you where an existing restriction comes from, naming Main settings or the rule set responsible - the quickest way to find out why a date will not take an arrival. To set allowed weekdays for a date range instead, open the calendar's Settings, go to Rule Sets, click Create rule set, choose the days under Check-in / Check-out Days, and assign the rule set to the dates. The logic is the same as Stay Rules everywhere on Houfy: the days you select are the days you allow, and selecting all days or none means no restriction.

Rule sets and per-date settings do not expire.

What will the calendar look like?

If Sunday is the only day selected for both check-in and check-out, guests will only be able to choose Sundays for arrival and departure. Dates that cannot be used as an arrival or departure day are marked on your calendar, and the date panel names the setting responsible. If a season sets different changeover days from your Stay Rules, each period shows its own days, so the base changeover and the seasonal changeover can appear side by side in the same view.
