Sauna, nature, silence - riverside cabin - Iitti

Escape to a sunny riverside cottage along Kymijoki, just 1.5h from Helsinki. Tucked away in nature, with a sauna right on the beach, it's a place to swim, paddle, grill over an open fire and watch the sun set straight from the porch. The plot bathes in sun all day. With a cosy sauna cottage and a separate sleeping house, plus SUP boards, a canoe, a trampoline and games, it's made for couples and families who want to truly unwind.

The space

Where you'll stay

At the heart of the plot is the sauna cottage: it has a spacious wood-burning sauna, shower, a small but well-equipped kitchen with fireplace, two pull-out sofas (2 × 120 cm, each fits one adult or two kids), and a porch where you can relax and watch the river drift by.

A few steps away stands the newly built, spacious sleeping house, with a double bed (160cm), a bunk bed 82x90cm) and a toddler bed. Because the beds have their own building, little ones and early sleepers can rest in peace while everyone else enjoys the sauna or stays up a little longer. (No electricity here just a quiet night close to nature.) All windows have black-out curtains.

Out on the water and in the garden

Good to know
▶︎ River: the bed is clay/mud, so mind small kids. It deepens gradually and is about 140 cm deep off the deck. Beach is small gravel
▶︎ Running water from the well for shower & dishes and cooking but not recommended for drinking. Please bring your own. there is a filling point by the local shop, 8 min drive away.
▶︎ Dry toilet only - clean and bright space
▶︎ Only 1.5h from Helsinki, with a good road all the way
▶︎ Middle of nature, pure silence, no close neighbours

Other things to note
Bed linen and towels are not included. They can be rented 15EUR/set, but we need to be informed at least 2 days in advance.

Charging hybrid or electrical car is strictly forbidden (and it will cause the whole electricity system to fail)

The water comes from a well, so please be mindful of your water use. You'll be in the middle of nature with no traditional plumbing so short showers rather than long ones. The well easily covers normal use, but if it runs dry during a hot summer there is unfortunately nothing we can do.
