Magical Ojai Retreat | Sauna + Clawfoot Tub - Ojai

A one-of-a-kind, art-filled 1930s Ojai retreat created over time and with tremendous love. Enjoy three sleeping bedrooms, three separate workspaces, an enormous office and second living room, a full-spectrum infrared sauna, secluded outdoor clawfoot tub and rainfall shower, flowering gardens, fenced yards, and an insulated garage/flex space. Peaceful and pastoral yet walkable to the best of Meiners Oaks. Fully furnished for stays of 10 nights or longer, open to leases up to 18 months.

The space
Long before it was offered to guests, this home was an evolving art project, created slowly and intuitively with tremendous love and care. Every color, artwork, textile, and piece of furniture was chosen to make it a place where someone could truly live, work, create, rest, gather with friends, and make a life.

The result is visually distinctive and full of character while remaining warm, inviting, and deeply comfortable.

The home has three dedicated sleeping bedrooms, an enormous fourth room configured for living and working, 2.5 indoor bathrooms, shower and tub outside, three separate workspaces, and generous room for a couple, friends, or a small household to spread out.

THE BEDROOMS

Two bedrooms are downstairs.

The main downstairs bedroom has a king bed, original artwork, rich textiles, postmodern furnishings, and a rare vintage Ello mirrored bed frame that lights up.

The second downstairs bedroom has a queen bed and its own sit/stand desk, creating a comfortable and private place for Zoom calls or focused work.

The entire upstairs is a retreat of its own, with a king bed, peekaboo mountain and sky views, a large desk and work area, and a meditation and reading nook with games. Stars are visible at night through the arched window. It is a quiet place to work, read, stretch, think, or step away from the activity downstairs.

THE OFFICE + SECOND LIVING ROOM

The enormous fourth room has been transformed into a combined office, sitting room, second living room, creative studio, and entertaining space, with its own exterior entrance.

For years, this room was home to a private practice devoted to naturopathy and art therapy. It was intentionally created to feel grounding, open, and welcoming and retains that special quality. Its generous proportions provide abundant room to work, rest, create, entertain, or gather with friends.

Between this room, the sit/stand desk in the queen bedroom, and the large upstairs desk, the house provides three genuinely separate places to work. It is especially comfortable for a household with more than one person working remotely.

OUTDOOR BATHING + GARDEN

The garden combines native plantings with roses, flowering plants, and fragrant sage that may be clipped for arrangements throughout the house.

A secluded outdoor bathing area includes a rainfall shower and freestanding clawfoot soaking tub. With very little surrounding light pollution, it is a magical place to soak beneath the stars. You may never want to bathe indoors again.

The property has fenced front and back yards and may be a wonderful fit for an approved dog.

SAUNA + GARAGE/FLEX SPACE

The home includes a full-spectrum, near-zero-EMF infrared sauna.

The insulated two-car garage doubles as another flexible indoor space, with room for yoga, exercise, weights, a mini trampoline, games, arts and crafts, or other creative projects. Guests may park in the garage or driveway, and EV charging is available.

KITCHEN + COMFORT

The moody, London-inspired kitchen has everything needed for everyday cooking, shared meals, and entertaining.

The mattresses were thoughtfully selected for comfort and restorative sleep. All bedding and linens are organic, OEKO-TEX certified, or both.

The home also offers ample clothing storage, including two large closets and an upstairs dresser, along with a securely anchored safe for valuables.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

The setting feels peaceful and pastoral, yet much of Meiners Oaks can be enjoyed on foot.

Walk to the Ojai Meadows Preserve and the river bottom; pick up organic groceries, coffee, or prepared food at Farmer and the Cook; bring your computer to the newly refreshed Ranch House; or walk to Ojai Noodle House for lunch or dinner.

Meiners Oaks is one of the Ojai Valley’s most eclectic and creative communities—a friendly, close-knit neighborhood shaped by artists, craftspeople, gardeners, longtime residents, and independent local businesses.

Downtown Ojai is approximately seven minutes away by car, with easy access to restaurants, shops, spas, galleries, additional hiking, and the rest of the Ojai Valley.

Guest access
Guests have private use of the furnished home, front and back yards, outdoor bathing area, sauna, garage/flex space, garage parking, driveway, and outlet in garage for EV charger.

A small locked owner-storage area is not included in guest access.
