About this place
This beautiful getaway is located in the heart of Savannah’s famous historic district. Surrounded by renowned restaurants, retail shops, and museums - you're only minutes from Forsyth Park and a short drive from the beaches of Tybee Island. Come enjoy this clean, quiet space and enjoy amenities like a high-end shower, king sized bed, WiFi, complimentary Keurig coffee, free on-street parking, convenient self check-in, and so much more!
The space
Originally built in 1920, this space has been fully restored and features historic charm, updated with 21st century conveniences. Antique heartpine flooring and Savannah grey brick fireplaces highlight the historic integrity of the home, while updated design elements and artwork bring in an eclectic ambiance, complimenting the beautiful nature of Savannah itself. Enjoy access to a kitchenette stocked with essential cookware, appliances, and complimentary coffee. The Smart TV adds easy access to a variety of streaming software for the guest’s enjoyment.
Please be advised that this space is a single studio with a private bathroom, separated from the rest of the home. This is a first-level studio apartment in a multi-unit building. There is a passage door in this unit that connects it to another studio, but it is securely locked from both sides. Ask about booking both studios if desired!
Within walking distance there are numerous restaurants, including Tacos+Tequila, Cotton and Rye, Sentient Bean, Shuk and so much more! It's about a 10 minute drive (or a cheap Uber ride) to River Street and about a 25 minute drive to Tybee Island.
Parking: There is free, on-street parking available in front of the unit, which is common in the downtown area. There is usually ample parking available directly out front, however it is first come first serve, and there are no reserved spaces. We cannot guarantee parking spaces, or enough space for trailers, U-Hauls, boats, etc. Please be advised of weekly street cleaning - there are signs that indicate when cleaning takes place. If you happen to stay during street cleaning hours, simply park around the corner for a different schedule.
Quiet Hours: This is a residential neighborhood. Please be advised that we ask all guests to respect 10PM quiet hours every night of the week. Any violations may result in a formal report on the booking platform and or an early termination of your reservation.
Any unapproved late checkouts may result in additional fees.
There is a $50 shipping fee for any items that you leave behind and need shipped back to you.
This listing is a great fit for those traveling alone, or couples looking for a romantic retreat to experience all that Savannah has to offer! If a residential neighborhood full of art students and a diverse cultural range is outside of your comfort zone, then we suggest alternate arrangements. A great deal of consideration and effort has been made to offer a luxurious and comfortable alternative to the hotel experience in this eclectic city. If you have any inquiries regarding the suitability of this listing for your intentions, we'll be happy to discuss it with you further!
Please be advised that this space is a private, single studio with an attached bathroom, both of which are divided from the rest of the building. It is a first-level apartment in a multi-unit building. There is a passage door in this unit that connects it to another studio, but it is securely locked from both sides. Ask about booking about studios if you have a larger party.
Let us know if you are celebrating a special event while you're in Savannah and we'll be happy to make recommendations! We're available as much or as little as you want by phone/text & email.
The Starland District, located within the borders of the Thomas Square Streetcar Historic District, is one of Savannah’s most fashionable emerging neighborhoods. The district traces its history back over a period of more than a hundred years. Specifically, its origins lie in the founding of the Starland Dairy, a milk processing factory around which the rest of the neighborhood would develop over the course of several decades.
The restoration of the Starland District began in 2000, and is still a work in progress. The plan for Starland aimed to restore both its residential and commercial functions, creating a vibrant new art and design district —a haven for local artists and musicians and packed with the city’s best indie boutiques, cafés, shops, and even a brewery —has piqued the interest of preservation buffs because of its Queen Anne, Greek Revival and Craftsman-style homes.
This is a rapidly gentrifying area with a lot of renovation projects happening in this trendy and diverse neighborhood consisting of SCAD students, Savannah locals, and vacation homes alike. There are dozens of amazing dining options nearby, including Cotton and Rye for eclectic Southern fare, or Tacos+Tequila for tex-mex, both on Habersham, or Collins Quarter Café in Forsyth Park for brunch and mimosas, all less than a 15 minute walk. It's an exciting time to visit, and we ask our guests to be tolerant and respectful of our diverse neighborhood, and the people who call Savannah home.
Local neighborhood shops and restaurants include:
• Forsyth Park - Just an eight minute walk. Make sure you check out the Forsyth Farmer's Market, which takes place every Saturday from 9a.m. to 1p.m.
• Brighter Day Natural Foods Market - Savannah's historic natural foods market has served as an anchor at the south end of Forsyth Park since 1978, offering a wide selection of organic goods, fresh produce, natural foods, and they even have a walk-up deli window serving up tasty sandwiches on the go! An ideal stop for visitors who would like to pack a healthy picnic to enjoy in Forsyth Park
• Back in the Day Bakery - This Southern gem serves up time-honored recipes made by hand with the highest quality ingredients. Don't miss their signature vanilla cupcakes or delicious Biscones - a favorite among visiting celebrities. This crumbly cross between a scone and biscuit is actress Jennifer Garner's absolute favorite.
• Grave Face Records & Curiosities - Funky destination for used records & cassettes, plus taxidermy animals & pop culture novelties.
• Starland Yard - You're going to love this place! This outdoor food truck haven offers a kid and dog-friendly atmosphere with lively entertainment on most nights, draft beer, and probably the best wood-fire pizza ever!
• Foxy Loxy Coffee - A mixture of an art gallery, coffee shop and bistro, Foxy Loxy has a menu options that include all three mealtimes, coffee drinks and even wine alongside constantly changing creative displays.
• La Scala Ristorante - An upscale establishment where the food is impeccably prepared and presented. They have a patio featuring live music every first Friday of the Month from Spring to Fall.
The area has a walk and bike score of 75%, meaning the area is very walkable and bike-able. During the school year, you'll notice many SCAD students walking around to their dorms or to class. Downtown Savannah is truly a walking city. Bring comfy shoes! It's totally possible—and incredibly fascinating—to spend days strolling through the nation's largest Landmark Historic District.
• If you prefer to see the sites in the comfort of your own car there are public parking garages throughout the Historic District, and of course, the Starland District neighborhood offers convenient and free on-street parking should you rather explore the city on foot.
• Savannah is a Bronze Level Bicycle-Friendly Community as awarded by the League of American Bicyclists. If getting around on two wheels is your style, Sekka on Broughton St offers hourly and daily bike rentals, and Savannah On Wheels offers both bike rentals and bike tours.
• The DOT is a fare-free service to help visitors and residents get around downtown Savannah. This Forsyth shuttle runs a loop from the South end of Forsyth Park at Park Avenue, down Drayton Street, to Johnson Square on Bryan Street, and then back up Whitaker Street to Forsyth Park.
• The DOT Express Shuttle is a fare-free service that runs every 10 minutes, with free Wi-Fi, and "hop on/hop off" service at any of 18 stops around the Historic District.
• Chatham Area Transit (CAT) offers 16 fixed bus routes in Savannah and Chatham County. Standard buses are equipped with bike racks. Fare for local one-way service is $1.50.
