About this place
in Walscheid mit Terrasse, Grill
size of property: 20000m².The house was built around 1750 and originally served as a horse-changing station for stagecoaches travelling between Strasbourg and Nancy. It was then used as a lumberjack's house and farmhouse. We acquired the house around 2000 and renovated it from top to bottom. Since then we have used it as a family retreat. The house is located approx. 3 km outside the village, 75 km west of Strasbourg.
The 2-hectare property is situated on a south-facing slope. A forest clearing surrounded by pines, birches, oaks, fruit trees and flower beds. Nature in all its splendour in a noble, rustic equestrian atmosphere. Solitude and Black Fire, two Tennessee western horses, are at home here. A paradise for nature lovers and people seeking peace and seclusion. The large fireplace encourages evening campfires or barbecues over the swing grill. Sauna-goers will find the greatest pleasure. The 36 kW stove is heated with wood.
The location is ideal for hikes, as you can set off directly from the house. (Hiking maps and excursion destinations are available in the house) In the immediate vicinity there are impressive sandstone cliffs, some with climbing hooks.
We rent out the entire house, the keys are handed over on site by arrangement. The house is clean and ready for your visit. The beds are freshly made and towels are provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped, all appliances in the kitchen can be used, a first-class olive oil, vinegar and spices are also available. If you are looking for activity and closeness to nature, this is the right place for you. Prerequisite: safe handling of fire! And don't be afraid of horses. The horses are permanently on the property and are fed daily by the neighbour.
To the house:
The large kitchen-cum-living room is on the ground floor. Cooking is done with gas. Oven, Kitchen-Aid, coffee machine, dishwasher etc. Entrance area with cupboards, bench and shelf. Large bathroom with washbasin, shower, fitness bike, towels, etc. Upstairs is the lounge with sofa, glass table and 2 armchairs.
There are also 3 separate bedrooms with double beds (140 x 200 cm) and on the ground floor there is a gallery open to the lounge with a double bed 200 x 200 cm, storage space, desk, TV area with sofa.
The house is heated exclusively with wood. A 12 kw Bullerjan on the ground floor and a 7 kw stove on the upper floor are sufficient for this. Firewood is available.
For general shared use:
