About this place
Gemütliches Appartement in Rettenbach Am Auerberg
type of building: Detached house. size of property: 1400m². year of construction: 2010. Owner lives on the property. no youth groups. We have renovated and refurbished a holiday flat in Rettenbach am Auerberg. A flat with a separate entrance and a double bed (bunk bed) in the gallery; a "retreat" or "hideaway" for two people a good hour's drive from Munich. Flooded with light, guests have a view of the Bavarian white-blue sky during the day and can watch the stars from their bed at night - they shine a little brighter here in the Ostallgäu than in Munich due to the lower scattered light. However, external blinds can completely darken the holiday flat for a restful sleep if desired. Ideal for cycling tours in the beautiful Ostallgäu countryside, or a visit to the royal castles, or to be able to work on concepts in peace (broadband connection available). Also suitable for extensive mushroom excursions in the surrounding forests. Unsure? We also work on a voluntary basis and carry out a mushroom inspection for anyone interested and show the differences between poisonous and edible mushrooms. A fully equipped kitchen with oven, coffee machine and dishwasher is also available for the (carefree) preparation of your finds. Bed linen, towels, tea towels and a hairdryer are also provided. In winter, skis and equipment can be dried in the room and your boots will be at "operating temperature" the next day. TV with SAT, fast WLAN and a car park in front of the door round off the overall package, and the holiday flat is not equipped or suitable for small children.
Food and drink:Ski hut: The name is a bit confusing, it is a small village pub with a nice beer garden. We highly recommend the huge burgers or the homemade pizzas. They can also be pre-ordered and picked up. Friendly and friendly service. You can reach the ski hut on foot in about 5 minutes. Closing days: Usually Monday and Tuesday If you fancy a taste of the rustic Bavarian pub atmosphere, we recommend a visit to Florian Lindner, landlord at the Goldenes Kreuz, Untere Gasse 1 in Rettenbach. Opening hours usually Thursday and Friday from 17:00, Saturday from midday and Sunday morning pint from 10:00.Café in the Weichbergmarkt: Village-owned establishment, also outdoors when the weather is fine. In addition to many coffee and ice cream specialities, home-baked (!) cakes are also offered by the countrywomen. At lunchtime (except Saturday) there is also a small snack menu with a changing offer.shopping facilities:Our village shop, the Weichbergmarkt: well-stocked EDEKA in the village centre (about 5 minutes' walk away), which also sells regional specialities from local production. We particularly recommend the hay milk cheese and smoked meats from the counter. You can't miss the shop, the large wooden house with a pile construction in the centre of the village square. You can also pay there with our local currency, the Weichbergtaler.Bäckerei Feneberg next door: In addition to home-baked bread and confectionery, there is also a bakery where real baking takes place (the baker is in the bakery at night) - not just a frozen standardised dough is baked here. The bakery also has a sausage and meat counter. Closed on Sundays. It is particularly busy at snack time (around 9:00 and 10:00), as this is when the apprentices pick up orders for the neighbouring craft businesses.Excursions:First and foremost a classic: Neuschwanstein Castle (about 30 minutes away by car). Be sure to book tickets in advance. Tip: the best view of Neuschwanstein is from the Marienbrücke (free of charge). From there you can continue on a mountain tour to the Tegelberg. Alpine, but not really exposed. Great views of the mountains and the Bavarian Alpine foothills. There is even a refreshment stop at the top. King Ludwig II's parents' castle, Hohenschwangau Castle, is also just a stone's throw away and well worth a visit for anyone with a passion for our Wittelsbach family. A picturesque medieval border town on the important trade route through the Alps. The friendly atmosphere and many small shops in the old town invite you to stroll and linger, and another highlight is the festival theatre with a view over Lake Foggensee and Neuschwanstein. A little further away in the Ammergau Alps, Linderhof Castle is hidden deep in a valley. Here, between the dreams of Richard Wagner and innovative dynamics (the blue colour specially developed for the grotto was later licensed to the USA for Lewis, and there was already a telephone connection to Munich at the time), King Ludwig received the message of his "deposition". A trip to Linderhof should also include a detour to Austria to Plansee, which is idyllically situated between high peaks, and the old town centre of Schongau is also worth a visit. A town fortified with thick walls (now a city), it was already located on an important south/north trade and military route along the Lech river in Roman times.
We are in a rural setting where the rooster is still allowed to crow and the cows graze proudly in the pasture with their traditional bells.
