Dornes, elected and awarded by the 7 Wonders of Portugal project as the most beautiful riverside village in the country, is located just 160 km from Lisbon, in a privileged region thanks to the Castelo do Bode dam.
The small village sits right on top of a lovely peninsula skirted by the river Zêzere reservoir and has planted at the very top the famous Torre Templar de Dornes, the pentagonal defensive tower that is no longer known in Portugal.
It is bathed by a 60 km long blue lake, full of beautiful river beaches, with floating pools and waters whose temperature reaches 26ºC in summer, excellent for the practice of nautical activities such as water skiing, fishing, canoeing, etc..
