Myrtle Beach Top 10 List
There are so many places and things to see and do when on vacation in Myrtle Beach. Here we made a Top 10 List of our favorite things to see and do for both adults and children, while enjoying your vacation.
The list is in no particular order.
1. The Beach
The beach is less than two minutes from our house, and is 60 miles long. Spend the day walking along beautiful sandy shores, or pop out and have your lunch right on your doorstep. The water is warm and inviting. The climate is ideal for sun bathing, swimming, water sports and any number of daytime activities.
In the center of the city the beach can be quite packed, but if you decide to walk further out either side the beach becomes a lot less busy and more peaceful.
The Grand Strand is the best stretch of beach on the East coast and whilst you are here, waking up early to watch the gorgeous sunrise is a must do.
2. The SkyWheel
Ascend Your Perspective! High over the shoreline and a long way from the worries of regular day to day existence awaits a remarkable experience that takes off more than 20 stories over the Atlantic Ocean. Featuring over 40 atmosphere controlled gondolas, the SkyWheel offers an elevating experience for youngsters and grown-ups of any age.
One of the best attractions in Myrtle Beach. It is popular all year round and runs 363 days, day and night, in all seasons and in all sorts of weather. Amazing views await you when you decide to ride the SkyWheel!
3. Broadway At The Beach
Located in the center of Myrtle Beach; Broadway at the Beach is one of the most dynamically vibrant places in the USA. Ranked as the 3rd best boardwalk in America by The National Geographic, this area is packed full with excitement. Offering all sorts of attractions and shopping opportunities, you will find everything here from unique boutiques to big household brands, along with fun local gift stores to keep you and the family busy and entertained. Broadway at the Beach is also an ideal place to go dining, and create memorable moments with the whole family.
4. Pelicans Ballpark
The Pelicans Ballpark where the Myrtle Beach Pelicans play is a great sports attraction. Just a few minutes walk from Broadway on the Beach, these Chicago Cub affiliates are a must see when exploring the city, a great game is guaranteed, even if the home team does not win.
The park is open 70 nights a year, with Saturday being the best day to go, with larger crowds and fireworks displays.
It is fun for all the family, with the Pelican and Shark mascots entertaining the children, enough variety of food to feed the whole family and plenty of craft beers to choose from. Visitors will also be pleased to hear you get a Major League experience in a small stadium, that is at a fraction of the cost of a real big league game!
5. Boat And Wildlife Tours
Gator Bait Adventure Tours, Waccamaw River tours and Black River outdoors. Are the Boat tours around Myrtle beach which offer great opportunities to witness the best of the South Carolina wildlife. On these tours you will hopefully see a few of these spectacular animals, Alligators, Egrets, Herons, Osprey, Turtles and more.
There is also Myrtle Beach Safari to explore, that offers very close interactions with lots of animals. An expensive day out, but very worth it for some up close and personal experiences. Have cuddles with baby big cats, monkeys, elephants, and other animals, that you will never forget.
6. Ripley’s Aquarium
Ripley’s Aquarium is open every single day, so whatever time of year you spend in Myrtle Beach you can always visit the creatures of the deep, and sometimes you can even meet a mermaid! Sleep amongst the fishes and sharks this summer, with the variety of sleepovers that are available to book at the Aquarium. Stay with the whole family or have a parents night out this summer holiday when you drop off your children with the Aquarium educators for a night of educational fun. Both need a minimum of ten people.
Make sure to skip the queues by booking online in advance and upgrade your ticket to explore the new attraction. Ripley’s Glass Bottom Boat Adventure, only three inches of glass will separate you from the top predators that call the Dangerous Reef their home.
7. The Market Common
High end shopping and dining awaits when you visit The Market Common, this amazing housing and shopping community. Along tree-lined roads in this flawlessly composed town setting, you will discover the country’s greatest and most praised names in retail. Alongside exceptional boutiques unique to this location. Appreciate food from the area’s best gourmet specialists at one of eleven famous eateries. Or take a trip to the movie theatre, which in the summer, offers a free movie every Tuesday.
8. Dinner Theaters
With a brand new original music score by Dolly Parton, a fresh musical score by the world renowned composer Daniel May and authentic Hawaiian Hula and World Champion Samoan Fire Knife dancers, you are spoilt for choice at our three wonderfully entertaining Dinner Theatres.
Take a dive into this swashbuckling experience as you enjoy a five-course pirate themed feast whilst cheering on the buccaneers to victory at Pirate Voyage. Be impressed by the “Knights of the Realm”, as they battle for the Kings attention and your favour, whilst you feast on a truly medieval four-course banquet, no silverware required at Medieval Times. Take a journey through the Pacific Islands at Polynesian Fire, the world travelled Lavata’i brothers will captivate you with Samoan Fire Knife performances, ethnic dancing and Polynesian music, whilst you enjoy the full buffet dinner.
9. Myrtle Beach State Park
The staff at Myrtle Beach State Park insist visitors do these five things when they explore this wonderful place.
- Enjoy an ice cream cone from the gift shop while taking a stroll out on the fishing pier.
- Explore nature at the Nature Center or on a self-led scavenger hunt.
- Hit the beach and search for shells, sea creatures and sharks’ teeth.
- Escape the busy Grand Strand and enjoy a walk on the Sculptured Oak Nature Trail through the maritime forest.
- Wake early and enjoy the peace and solitude of the park as you watch the sunrise.
10. Golf Courses
As Myrtle Beach is referred to as the Golf Capital of the World, this sport should definitely be on your list of things to do when visiting, even if it is just a quick round of mini golf. Due to this reputation there has been lots of investment into the area, which has been guaranteeing a constant standard of excellence for the golf courses and parks.
There are a great selection of Golf courses to visit, they differ from adventurous themed mini golf like Mt. Atlanticus, to schools like the Classic Swing, which was voted in the top 25 Golf schools in the US by Golf Magazine, and professional golf clubs like King’s North at Myrtle Beach National, voted one of the top ten courses in America by Golf Digest.
