How to link your Google Business Profile to Houfy

Point the website field on your Google Business Profile at your Houfy listing or profile, so guests searching for your property by name land somewhere they can book.

If you have a Google Business Profile for your rental, the website field on it is one of the few places a guest searching for your property by name will click straight through to you. Pointing it at Houfy sends them to a page where they can see your calendar and book, instead of to a listing on a platform that charges them to do the same thing.

Which Houfy address to use

  • One property: use your listing page, https://www.houfy.com/lodging/ followed by your listing number.

  • Several properties: use your profile page, https://www.houfy.com/ followed by your username, so the profile shows all of them.

  • If you have built a direct booking site with the Houfy website builder and put your own domain on it, use that domain instead. It is the stronger signal to Google and the address guests will remember.

Whichever you choose, enter the full address including https://. Google rejects a bare houfy.com/... without it.

Where to change it

Google has moved this more than once, and it now lives in two places rather than a separate dashboard:

  1. On a computer, go to business.google.com and sign in with the account that owns the profile. You can also search your own business name while signed in and edit the profile straight from the search result.

  2. Click Edit profile.

  3. Find the website or contact field, paste your Houfy address, and click Save.

On a phone, open the Google Maps app, tap Business at the bottom right, tap Edit profile, and make the same change there.

What happens next

Edits are not always instant. Google reviews changes to a Business Profile, and a website change can sit pending for anything from a few minutes to a few days. If it is rejected, the usual cause is a mismatch between the business name on the profile and what appears on the page you pointed it at, so check that your Houfy listing or profile carries the same business name.

You do not need to remove anything on the Houfy side. The listing page is public whether or not it is linked from anywhere, and the link does not affect your verification status.

If you also post updates on Google

The Posts feature on a Business Profile takes a link, so a Houfy Story or a guidebook makes a reasonable thing to post: write it on Houfy, then link to it from the update rather than retyping it. Posts expire after about six months, so treat them as announcements rather than as a place to keep anything you need to stay live.
