Folly is funky, is fun, and it has no shortage of reasons for a festival. For real. Where else do they have a Bill Murray look-a-like competition and then race wildly into the freezing Atlantic ocean - in January? Exactly!
And since the locals enjoy many of these festivals during the "off season," you should consider making your vacation plans accordingly (see Visit Folly in the Off Season). Our townhome is just one block from all Center Street festivities.

FOLLY GRAS February 23, 2019
A week long, beach-wide Mardi Gras style celebration complete with live music, food and craft vendors, and a Folly Gras parade and an all day street party.
SEA & SAND FESTIVAL September 21, 2019
The longest running annual event on Folly Beach, Sea & Sand is a weekend affair with something for everyone including Miss Sea & Sand Pageant, a street festival, and a competition in the sand.
FOLLYPALOOZA October 12, 2019
A cancer benefit that raises money for Folly Beach residents who are receiving cancer treatments, this street festival features live music, an art competition, an auction & carnival atmosphere.
THE FOLLY JAZZ FESTIVAL Fall 2019
Celebrate the music that has been a part of Folly Beach since the Big Bands played on The Pier in the 40’s. Visit where Gershwin wrote Porgy & Bess and enjoy lots of free musical events.
CHRISTMAS PARADE December 2020
Santa parades through the streets of his favorite beach town. During the parade, knock-out some of your holiday shopping at the Arts & Crafts Show at the Community Center.
NEW YEAR’S EVE FLIP-FLOP DROP December 31, 2020
Drop a ball on New Year’s Eve? Not on Folly. Gather on Center Street to watch the giant pair of glittery flip-flops descend to mark the stroke of midnight.
BILL MURRAY POLAR PLUNGE January 1, 2020
Attendees start the New Year with a plunge into the (not so) cold Atlantic while dressed as their favorite Bill character. We are told that Bill Murray enjoys Charleston and Folly Beach and there is always a chance of a sighting.
TASTE OF FOLLY January 2020
A two day celebration of Folly food including local restaurants selling food and drinks on the street, local vendors, live music, kids’ area and silent auction.
Our townhome is at Waters Edge, a charming development of colorful Charleston-style homes on Folly Beach. We are located in a quiet, tucked-away area on the river, and an easy walk to the beach and all the fun restaurants and shops.
