The swimming pigs are one of he most sought after excursions in the world right now. They are such a unique attraction, that tourists are putting Exuma on the top of their bucket list, and putting the experience of swimming with them as their number one priority upon arrival on the island. Locals and tourists alike have converged on Exuma just to have a swim with, and even feed the captivating pigs.

The Exuma Cays are a collection of 360, mostly uninhabited tropical islands surrounded by the most beautiful tourquoise waters you will ever see! Accounts of how these pigs originally arrived on the island vary. Many say the pigs had been released on Big Major Cay by a group of sailors who wanted to come back and cook them. The theory was that if they propagate, there will always be food; although, the sailors never returned. Another legend is that the pigs were shipwrecked there, and they miraculously made their way to the shore; in both instances surviving on food released from passing ships. The pigs are now fed by locals and tourists, and the island is unofficially known as Pig Beach.
