For cyclists, Finca La Lavanda in Alaró makes an excellent base. Set amongst the countryside at the foot of the Tramuntana, the finca is perfectly placed for discovering Mallorca’s quieter inland roads as well as the more challenging mountain routes.

Whether you enjoy a relaxed ride through pretty villages or are looking for a longer day in the mountains, there are plenty of options close by.

🚴 Alaró, Binissalem and the Raiguer countryside

A lovely way to begin exploring from Finca La Lavanda is to head towards Binissalem and Lloseta, following the quieter roads through the Raiguer countryside.

This is a very different cycling experience from tackling one of Mallorca’s famous mountain climbs. The landscape is a beautiful mix of vineyards, orchards, olive groves and traditional fincas, with the Tramuntana rising dramatically in the background.

From Alaró, you can make your way towards Binissalem and then follow the Camí des Raiguer towards Lloseta. This old route connects the two villages and is relatively quiet, being used particularly by cyclists and walkers.

It is a wonderful route for simply enjoying the scenery and the character of Mallorca away from the busier tourist areas.

🌿 Discovering the villages of the Tramuntana foothills

Continuing towards Lloseta brings you into the quieter side of the Tramuntana foothills.

Lloseta sits at the edge of the mountains, with the landscape beginning to rise behind the village. From here, cyclists can continue towards Selva and Caimari for a longer ride, or make a more leisurely circuit through the surrounding countryside. The official Mallorca cycling network includes the route from the Tramuntana through Caimari and Selva before continuing towards Lloseta and the Raiguer villages.

For us, this is one of the nicest ways to experience inland Mallorca: small villages, quiet roads, mountain views and very little of the busy coastal atmosphere.

🍷 Binissalem and Mallorca's wine country

Binissalem is another excellent stop on a cycling day from Alaró.

The area is at the heart of Mallorca's wine country, and the surrounding countryside is particularly beautiful in spring and autumn. You can combine a ride through the vineyards with a coffee or lunch in the village before heading back towards Alaró.

Binissalem's official tourism information highlights the area as a cycling base, with routes ranging from gentle rides through the vineyards to more demanding Tramuntana excursions.

⛰️ For a longer mountain ride

If you are looking for something more challenging, the roads beyond Lloseta lead towards Selva and Caimari, at the foot of the higher Tramuntana.

From Caimari, experienced cyclists can continue towards the Coll de sa Batalla and the mountains beyond. This is where the riding becomes much more demanding, so it is better suited to experienced cyclists looking for a serious day in the saddle.

The beauty of staying near Alaró is that you can choose your route according to your mood and fitness — there is no need to commit to a major mountain climb every day.

☀️ Cycling through the seasons

Cycling is possible for much of the year in Mallorca, but spring and autumn are particularly enjoyable for longer rides, when temperatures are generally more comfortable.

Early mornings are especially beautiful, when the roads are quiet and the mountains are often wonderfully clear.

During the warmer summer months, an early start is ideal, followed by a relaxing afternoon back at the finca — perhaps with a swim in the saltwater pool.

🏡 Return to Finca La Lavanda

After a day in the saddle, there is something very special about returning to your own private finca.

At Finca La Lavanda you can cool off in the saltwater pool, relax in the gardens and enjoy the peaceful countryside and Tramuntana views.

For cyclists who want to experience the quieter, authentic side of Mallorca, Alaró is a wonderful base. From gentle rides through vineyards and traditional villages to challenging mountain roads, you can make every cycling day as relaxed — or as adventurous — as you like.
