Once you get to Belize City you can rent a car to get to Placencia. The best car rental agency is Crystal at the airport in Belize City. The drive is about 2.5 hours via the brand new Coastal Highway. There are also local flights directly into Placencia via Tropic or Maya Air. From there, we recommend renting a car from Leo’s Car Rental. They will arrange to have your rental waiting at the airport when you arrive.
The roads and highways are well-maintained with good signage and infrastructure. They also drive on the same side of the road as the US and Canada.
