About this place

Architect-designed, dog-friendly cabin for two beside the Shropshire Union Canal

Monocoque Cabin is an architect-designed cabin for two near Tyrley Locks and Market Drayton, Shropshire. Designed and built by Pete Markos in 2023, its curved plywood shell takes inspiration from the de Havilland Mosquito aircraft. Exposed timber ribs and built-in furniture give the interior its distinctive character.

Inside are a double bed, a kitchenette with an induction hob, air fryer, microwave and mini fridge, and a private bathroom with a walk-in shower and compost toilet. Electric heaters and a biofuel fire provide warmth.

Outside, enjoy the decking, private garden and fire pit, with rural views and walks along the nearby canal towpath. Well-behaved dogs are welcome; the garden is not fully enclosed.

There are steps up to the entrance. Self check-in is from 3pm and checkout is by 11am.
