Escape to The Happy Hemlock, your home away from home in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Enjoy the quiet of the forest with full amenities, including an in-ground heated pool, fire pit, wood-burning stove, and a full chef's kitchen. Here you can be as online – or offline – as you like. Near to Minnewaska, Mohonk, Innes, Kingston and Woodstock, the house provides an ideal base of operations for countless day trips.

The space
We welcome up to 6 adults, or up to 8 guests total when including children aged 2 to 8. Infants under 2 are welcome in addition.

The house is designed with a quiet, understated sense of comfort. Every space, from the kitchen to the bedrooms, is set up with both function and design in mind. It feels relaxed and lived in, with thoughtful details throughout.

- Living Room & Dining Area:
The heart of the home is a spacious living room with a large sectional sofa and our personal collection of books and records to enjoy. It is a space for reading, listening to music, or spending time by the fire.

The open dining area seats eight comfortably, ideal for shared meals and game nights.

Settle in for anything from a family favorite to an art-house classic with Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+, and Criterion, all complimentary during your stay.

- Chef’s Kitchen:
The kitchen is fully equipped with high-quality cookware and everyday appliances, making it easy to cook at home. For your convenience, you will also find a toaster oven and air fryer, rice cooker, and Instant Pot. Coffee and tea are on the house, along with a Moccamaster coffee maker and a Fellow grinder to start your mornings right.

- Sleeping Arrangements:
The bedrooms are simple and thoughtfully put together, with just the right amount of comfort and ease. Soft linens, plenty of space, and quiet surroundings make it easy to settle in.

The main bedroom is a spacious room with a king bed, walk-in closet, and an en-suite bathroom with a soaking tub and a shower. A private balcony with a loveseat overlooks the property and the surrounding forest. It’s a perfect spot to read or take in the view.

Two of the queen bedrooms each have a dedicated workspace, ideal if you need a quiet and comfortable spot to work while you are here.

The fourth queen bedroom is the most tucked away, offering extra privacy. It is set up with kids in mind, but feels equally welcoming for adults.

- Outdoor Living:
Step outside and settle into the quiet of the woods. The property offers plenty of space to relax, whether you are by the pool, on the porch, or around the fire.

The screened-in porch has a dining table for six, along with comfortable seating for slow mornings or evenings, all without worrying about the bugs.

The 40-foot heated pool is open seasonally and sits in the sun for most of the day. There are comfortable loungers for reading, sunbathing, or simply taking in the quiet. After the high season, the pool will remain open at the owner's discretion, depending on weather conditions. We typically close it for the season at the end of September and reopen it in time for Memorial Day weekend.

The fire pit area includes a steel fire pit, a gas BBQ grill, and outdoor seating. Firewood is provided, so all you need to bring is a good conversation under the stars.

- Gym Area:
Maintain your routine with a stationary bike, workout bench, free weights, and a yoga mat.

Other things to note
- The house is set up for a maximum of eight guests. We are not able to accommodate additional overnight guests beyond that. If you are expecting additional guests visiting during the day, please notify us in advance.

- To preserve the tranquility of Happy Hemlock and respect the surrounding environment, we observe quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM. We do not allow parties, large gatherings, or events. The house is intended for the private enjoyment of our registered guests only.

- We welcome up to two dogs with prior approval and a $100 cleaning fee per dog (for allergy reasons, we cannot accept cats). The backyard is fenced, though an energetic dog might still find a way out, so we ask that you keep an eye on them. To help keep the house clean and comfortable:

• Please use the utility towels provided for drying off after outdoor play or handling any pet messes (they can be found in the downstairs closet).
• Keep pets off the furniture. We will provide dog beds for their use.
• Pets should always be under your control, whether they are safely inside, on a leash, or in the fenced yard.
• Pets must be housebroken, well-behaved, and not left alone in the home or on the property at any time.
Please note: Damages caused by a dog are not covered by the cleaning fee and will be charged separately.

- Bugs and Critters: Being so close to nature means you may encounter a few of its residents. Consider it part of the magic of living among the trees. Occasionally, a few bugs might find their way inside. To minimize uninvited guests, we recommend keeping doors closed when not in use. It helps maintain that peaceful, cozy atmosphere we’ve created just for you.

- Cell service in the Hudson Valley can be spotty. We recommend downloading the address, WiFi details, and entry instructions before you arrive.

- The property receives regular maintenance, including pool, lawn, and trash service. You may see service providers accessing the yard or pool deck during your stay.

- Winters in the Catskills can be snowy and occasionally icy. We recommend driving a vehicle with 4WD or AWD, and we provide shovels and salt for your convenience and safety. If snowfall exceeds three to four inches, the driveway will be plowed after the snow has stopped. Please note that the exact timing for plowing can vary depending on conditions, so we recommend allowing extra time when departing.

- We encourage guests to purchase travel insurance. We are unable to make exceptions to our cancellation policy.
