RETRO STYLE: This house is quirky, interesting and fun! We offer a chance for guests to stay somewhere a little different, experience some West Coast history and chill out by the sea with a glass of wine and some great local food. Our home is almost 100 years old and, though greatly cared for, shows its age in some places. Expect to find some loving wear, quaint aging and charming patina both inside and outside.
BEFORE YOU BOOK: Make sure you note our house rules and read the full description. Let us know which beds you require.
NOTE: The house can sleep 8 comfortably but there is only 1 bathroom.
PARKING: Free parking on the street or in the back yard.
LOUNGE: The cosy lounge/dinning area is small but functional with new woodburner for heating in winter.
KITCHEN: original, small galley kitchen, fully equipped. Sometimes guests leave behind cooking supplies. Please help yourself to anything left in the cupboard if you need it.
WINTER HEATING: Woodburner, electric heaters in bedrooms, some beds have electric blankets also.
GARDEN: There is a large backyard suitable for BBQs and outdoor dining. It is fully fenced.
SECURITY: There is a Ring security door bell camera on the front door to monitor the pathway and front entrance while the house is empty.
Make sure all guests including babies are included in your booking reservation. If there is a fire or emergency we must know exactly how many people are in the house.
CHILDREN: Books and toys provided for children. Portacot and highchair available on request.
CLEANING: We don't charge any cleaning fees. We clean and prepare the house for you. We ask that you leave the house clean and tidy. Failure to do so will result in extra charges.
HELP US BE SUSTAINABLE: Follow our recycling guide. Don't buy bottled water - you can drink the tap water. Turn off lights/heating/appliances when not in use.
CHECK IN: Check in is available from 3pm onwards. We can not allow early check ins due to Covid cleaning protocols. The house must be deep cleaned and aired for a number of hours after cleaning staff have left.
PETS: We sometimes allow a dog. Please discuss this with us when you request to stay. Permission is needed at the time of booking.

We offer a friendly and warm space that is quite different from a hotel experience. We want guests to feel comfortable and at home in the spaces we have set up. Our listings really appeal to folks who love character homes, enjoy art on the walls and vintage/retro furniture.
We have lived in Hokitika for the past 12 years. We enjoy good music and good food.
We have both traveled extensively.
We absolutely love living here in Hokitika. It has a wonderful community - we are a really eclectic bunch. The scenery is wild and stunning and the history is fascinating.
I'm busy running our farm as well as working. We look forward to meeting our guests and are always happy to help you plan activities here on the West Coast - rain or shine - it is a fantastic place to be.

Refundable Damage Deposit
Damage deposit is refunded 24 hours after check out assuming no damage or loss of property and contents.
Cancellation Policy
Due to the nature of the vacation rental business, we cannot accept cancellations occurring later than 30 days to the arrival date. Once dates are taken off the market, they become unavailable to other renters.
With owner approval, guest may find a replacement renter or gift their dates (not future dates) to someone else. Guest MUST cancel the original reservation before owner will assist in trying to rebook the dates. Owner is under no obligation to find a replacement renter.
You will forfeit all sums paid unless we are able to re-rent the property, in which case we will refund an amount equal to any subsequent rental less a $30 handling fee. If a cancellation occurs prior to 30 days to arrival, full refund will be issued less a $30 handling fee.
*For a 100% refund of accommodation fees (minus credit card fees), cancellation must be made 30 full days prior to listing’s local check in time (or 3:00 PM if not specified) on the day of check in.
*For a 50% refund of accommodation fees (minus credit card fees), cancellation must be made 14 full days prior to listing's local check in time (or 3pm if not specified) on the day of check in. No refund if guest cancels within 7 days.
*If guest arrives and decides to leave early, the nights not spent are not refunded.
*All cancellations have a $30 processing fee.

* It is highly recommended guest purchase trip cancellation/interruption insurance in case of family emergencies/bad weather delays, flight/rental car cancellations, job loss, snow/ice, Covid-19 bans/restrictions, etc.
