Where you'll be
In this unique area where residential living meets untouched Pacific Northwest habitats, guests are often amazed by how many white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and birds they see on our property. Our property is a natural wildlife haven because Browne’s Mountain directly borders thousands of acres of protected public land. This continuous forest acts as a natural highway, allowing animals to move safely right up into the neighborhood. Offering the perfect blend of habitats, the mountain's mature pine trees, native berry bushes, and open grassy areas provide a highly nutritious, year-round buffet for native species.
We invite you to indulge in the tranquility of trees and nature at Browne's Mountain Retreat.
Quail Watch Habitat: Our property serves as a natural sanctuary and active habitat project for resident coveys of quail. We manage the property with zero pesticides, deliberate native cover, and undisturbed areas so these incredible birds can safely thrive year-round. Grab an early morning coffee, look out the expansive windows, and enjoy the slow, quiet experience of watching wildlife wander through.
Outdoor Access & Trails
While the upper parts of the small mountain are residential, its ridges and foothills seamlessly blend into the Dishman Hills Conservation Area for local day hiking.
• Glenrose Trailhead: Offers beautiful loops with steady climbs and sweeping valley views.
• The Rocks of Sharon: Features massive granite monoliths that are popular with local rock climbers and hikers looking for panoramic views of the Palouse.
Fun Fact: You'll be staying on an old ski hill. In 1933, Browne’s Mountain was home to Ski-Mor Resort, featuring Spokane’s very first rope-tow ski lift and an Olympic-sized ski jump. The jump's original launching platform sat directly on the ridge crest just a few hundred yards as the crow files from the property. The resort eventually closed as regional skiing shifted in favor of Mount Spokane resort development with more reliable snowfall, swapping the ski runs for the peaceful neighborhood and scenic area it is today.
