Campton even holds the distinction of being the boyhood home of Sylvester Marsh, the builder of the famous Mount Washington Cog Railway.

Campton is a true four-season destination. The town borders the White Mountain National Forest, whose 770,000 acres offer hiking, biking, fishing, bird-watching, camping, and horseback riding in warmer months, with cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in winter. Just a short drive away, Loon Mountain and Waterville Valley offer world-class skiing, gondola rides, and aerial adventure parks.
