About this place
Beachfront studio Mauka View at Lahaina Shores where Hawaiian monk seals and turtles (Honu) rest on the sand and humpback whales breach offshore Nov- May. My family's been on Maui 40 years, this is the island knowledge we share. Queen bed + 2 convertible Serta twin beds (sleeps 3-4), full kitchen, central AC, private lanai with West Maui Mountain views, iconic Banyan Tree visible left from your lanai. Popular surf spot. Recently renovated, coastal-modern design. Beach towels & umbrella provided.
The space
My family uses this studio a few times per year—our items are in the locked owner's closet. The main closet and drawers are yours.
Gray quilted chair covers are in the drawers if you'd like to use them on the cream-colored convertible chairs. They work as day-use protection or as mattress pads if you're converting them to twin beds for the night.
Guest access
Check in at the 24-hour front desk. They'll give you keys and parking info. Your studio is private, the resort grounds are shared (pool, hot tub, beach).
Island etiquette is important here. Use the outdoor shower to rinse off, then take a minute to dry with your towel before going inside. Walking through the lobby dripping wet leaves puddles or sand trails that make you look like an inconsiderate mainland tourist. Locals notice these things.
Lahaina is rebuilding. If you walk through the surrounding neighborhoods, keep your phones tucked away. The community appreciates respectful visitors 💕
Other things to note
There's a Coffee Stop (a local walk-up or drive-through, food truck style cafe) at the corner of the main road and Lahainaluna Rd. If you need your Latte or Americano. It's a flat mile walk - take the road below the main one, it's less like a highway. Go before 10am to avoid the heat. Starbucks is 1.8 miles.
Hydrate, wear a hat, use regular sunscreen (spray sunscreen is another mainland habit that creates problems - sticky residue for housekeeping, damage to the reef) 🙂.
For making coffee in your room, bring your favorite Nespresso original pods or Keurig K-cups.
Skip large checked luggage. Pack swimsuits, sarongs, and laundry pods. We provide two quick-dry towels, but heavy beach users might want to bring extras. At $5.50 per load, rewearing a few things is way cheaper than baggage fees. You won't need nightclub wear or dress shoes.
Bring your first few meals and easy breakfast items. The real time saver is getting outside as soon as you arrive instead of hunting for groceries, bleary eyed (Foodland Farms & Safeway are closest).

Meet the Host
Hi, I'm Kristie and I have been doing vacation rentals since 2001, before Airbnb was even a term we used as a descriptor ;-) Come see our endangered Hawaiian monk seals, turtles at rest on our beach and the whales in season...either from the beach or hop on a boat you can board a couple of blocks away. Happy to serve as your personal concierge for all things Maui.

Getting around
To rental car or not to rental car? That is up to you, but honestly, we have stopped. Cost wise is has been far less to Uber or Lyft from the Airport to Lahaina Shores Beach Resort. We book West Maui Taxi (Flat Rate) to return (it's better for the drivers). Recent price upticks, even at beach areas has made having a rental car a significant additional expense. Most guests on island tend to drive around 1-2 days out of 7. Even if you uber to Keawe, Cannery or Old Lahaina Luau or Aloha Mixed Plate and back (2 miles) to shop and go to restaurants, it's still less and you don't have to worry about the gas/ return at airport process.
