Everyone's asking if old Lahaina is gone. It's not, some quietly relocated. Some shops for good, and some until the damaged, historic end of Front Street is rebuilt. Many never moved at all and were untouched; like Old Lahaina Luau, Mala Oceanfront, Star Noodle and Aloha Mixed Plate.
'Ulu o Lele Marketplace is opening soon for local vendors where the "Outlet Mall Shops" used to be. So community, local vendors and restaurants will be in even closer proximity to each other. If you are standing by the Old Lahaina Luau's Tiki Torches, you are on the backside of these relocated shops.
The Lahaina Harbor reopened next to the Historic Banyan Tree last year and finished up their first whale watch season in April 2026. Daily excursions are going out with Sail Maui, Atlantis Submarine, Trilogy Golden Hour or sunset cruises (Happy to update anyone who is missed here and will add booking links).
Lahaina Jewelry has been Front Street's oldest family jewelry shop since 1989. It's still Victoria Doan's and run by family. They lost their shop that was
next to Kimo's (also in progress) in the fire and reopened just down the road next to the Cannery and Lahaina Galleries in one of the new buildings.
Steps away, Lahaina Galleries is turning 50 this year — one of the longest-running family-owned galleries in the state. They quietly reopened too, no fanfare, and could really use the foot traffic. Same families. Same names you remember. Just down the road, hiding in plain sight because barely anyone's thought to look. Now it's walkable from Lahaina Shores Beach Resort along the newly paved Front Street that reopened to vehicular traffic on August 1st, 2026. We rode bikes along Front Street last week, and stopped in Lahaina Gelato for some ice cream and enjoyed the double rainbow over the West Maui Mountains. We were also fortunate enough to witness a fever of spotted eagle rays near the harbor at the beginning of the new sidewalk (All locations and excursions we've personally enjoyed & post on socials).
