What Collections are and how to create one

A Collection groups related Stories together, so a reader can find a whole subject in one place instead of hunting for the pieces. Restaurants is one Collection - a Story on breakfast places, another on cheap eats, another on the top tables nearby, all gathered under it. Things to do nearby would be another.

Collections were previously called Guides or Guidebooks. Same thing, new name.

Create a Collection

1. Open Manage Collections in the left sidebar of your dashboard.

2. Click Create Collection, top right.

3. Give it a name and save.

Keep the name plain and descriptive - Breckenridge Restaurants rather than My Favourite Spots. It is what a reader sees before they open anything, and it is what search has to work with.

Put Stories into a Collection

A Collection holds no writing of its own. You write each Story separately, then save it into the Collection you want it filed under. One Story can sit in more than one Collection.

The reason to split a subject across several Stories rather than write one long one: each Story can then be found on its own in search, while the Collection still gives the reader the whole picture.

Collections and your listings

A Collection can be attached to a listing, so guests looking at the property also get your local knowledge - where to eat, what to do, how things work.

Write the Stories with that guest in mind. They are standing in your rental deciding where to have dinner, not browsing for travel inspiration.
