About Helen

We’re Helen and Karl, life partners and the owners of Kubu Elena, a home we intentionally designed in Northwest Bali. We chose Pemuteran for its beautiful coastline, mountain backdrop, and slower pace of life, a place where nature and the vibrant local Balinese community set the rhythm. As the world continues to shift dramatically, we were drawn to somewhere that feels almost left back in time, with more roosters than people, where life is still lived simply and close to the land. This is old Bali at its best. The area is home to Bali’s only national park and offers some of the island’s finest diving, snorkeling, and freediving, along with cycling, hiking, and a level of local warmth and friendliness that guests often remember long after they leave.
