HAWKS VIEW HOUSE
This property was exactly what we needed... and more! The cabin is just lovely. Well appointed and comfortable. Private, quiet. The dwelling has great character and has been designed and adorned with wonderful art and gleanings from the surrounding area. The owners have been thoughtful to provide guides, restaurant menus, brochures and books on local and area destinations. Located not too far from access to the Blue Ridge Parkway for great views, hikes and waterfalls. While on the parkway, stop in Little Switzerland and check out Books & Beans for new, used and rare books. Run on up to Grandfather Mountain and spend the day exploring, or over to Mt. Mitchell for stunning views and hiking. The cabin is a short drive to charming Spruce Pine "The Mineral City" to stock up on provisions. While in town, have a cuppa or lunch at DT's Blue Ridge Java Coffee Shop & Cafe. Stop in the Toe River Arts Council 'TRAC' Gallery to view featured local artists/craftsmen works on display. Head on over to Woody's Chair Shop to appreciate the history of quality handmade chairs, stools and rockers... and maybe purchase a family heirloom!? Absolutely don't miss the Penland School of Crafts campus, gallery and studios. Experience Miss Lucy's legacy first hand. The buildings and grounds are seeped in history. I loved meeting potter Cynthia Bringle and think fondly of my visit to the mountains every time I look at one of her pieces I acquired while there. Don't be shy about stopping in and visiting the many local artists studios and galleries when you see their shingle hanging out along side the road. While out on a waste and recycling center run - we decided to drop in to Wood Song Pottery. We were welcomed by potter Joy Tanner, she shares the studio with her husband William Baker, also a potter. There were numerous other artisans and sites to see - not enough time - we plan on exploring more on our next visit to Hawks View and the beautiful North Carolina mountains. Highly recommend.
Living the Dream on Beech Mountain
When we first stumbled upon this condo, it seemed almost too good to be true. There must be a catch! But everything was as perfect as it seemed online. I cannot say enough good things about this house! The location was terrific just a short drive to Beech Ski Resort - a perfect home base for a weekend or for a longer ski season stay as we had. The house was very clean and so cozy - with cute local decor and comfy beds, extra pillows, and blankets. The kitchen is compact and contains everything one needs. It is well-stocked with basic necessities already in place for you to use. Matthew is the perfect host - very accommodating and very quick to respond with any questions. He provided us with all we needed. The booking and check-in/check-out process was super easy. There are instructions for the house and its amenities almost everywhere, left on the desk and also in the kitchen on the fridge and they are very informative. Everything is kept clean and organized. There were many things provided like shampoos, body wash, hand soap, hand sanitizers, first aid kit, 2 vacuums, an iron board even a hair flat iron. The kids enjoy the variety of board games while mom and dad just relax near the welcoming fireplace that heats up the living room in no time. An added bonus for our weekend trips was the access to the laundry to wash and dry clothes after being on the slopes all day. The parking lot area and the entrance stairs were kept snow and ice-free. However, If you are going when it actually snowing make sure you have 4 wheel drive or chains to exit to the main road which is just behind the condominium. The condo is very quiet and there were no noisy neighbors. I had many favorite parts of staying at Living the Dream on Beech, but the one that stole my heart was the view, and what a view! The place is very cozy and was great for our family of four. I would love to go back in every season just to see the beauty of that view.
Quiet Blue Ridge Cabin · Spotless & Serene
Stayed the weekend to ride the local mountain roads. Home is in a quite location, well appointed and exceptionally clean. Communication with the owner was excellent, beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and relaxing by the fire pit in the evening was perfect (Owners even provided the firewood). For those on motorcycles, respect the speed limit on the way to/from the main road (2.5 mi), as you're passing through a residential neighborhood. The driveway is gravel, but is totally doable on a bike, just need to be cautious. Remember to bring your streaming passwords for the TVs and something for your kickstand to rest on.
Hilltop Hideaway
My dad said we would visit the Cullasajah River some day, and we never got around to it. So, I surprised him with a birthday trip up there this year and man! This place is a gem! The cozy cabin was just perfect for our weekend. We cooked lots of yummy food in the well-equiped kitchen, used the suggestion to go grab lunch at The Ugly Dog (amazing food and atmosphere), and we slept so comfortably (even the twin beds are excellent for adults). The view from the back porch was amazing. Our pups loved the property as well. We couldn’t have had a better time. The place was immaculately clean and adorable. The driveway was even one of the better of the mountain cabins we’ve stayed in. Definitely recommend!
Newly renovated, clean, convenient, quiet & comfy
This vacation rental is truly a “home away from home” place to stay! Comfort, peacefulness, and convenience are some of the words that best describe it. The owner, Stacey, has thought of everything to make your time there be inviting and enjoyable! From snacks on the kitchen table upon arrival, notes throughout with helpful information, and a vegetable garden and some quail in the backyard, there’s every reason to feel welcome. Thanks for being a top-notch host, Stacey!!
Toes in the Water at Lake Gaston
We spent 10 nights in the beautiful home and hated to leave. It was perfect for our family and can’t thing of a thing we would change about it! We spent the first few days with our adult children and grandson - wonderful open floor plan to accommodate a busy 18 month old and comfy beds to crash in after fun days on the water! Kelly was so kind and helped us arrange a mid week cleaning before the family switchover happened and other adult family members arrived, including 2 elderly parents. The floor plan and activities continued to be perfect for this group - we loved the ping pong table and playing corn hole by the firepit! We spent lots of lazy coffee time in the screened porch and on the beautiful upper deck. The kayaks were perfect for exploring the cove and we loved the ring toss hook game in the awesome huge dock house! The location on the lake was absolutely perfect - one turn from the creek area (fun lunches at Shady Shack!) and one turn from the main part of the lake. Kelly and Corey were super responsive and helpful - and clearly care about this home as it is beautifully decorated and maintained. We will definitely be back next year!

Michael and Kerrie’s place is HEAVEN! We made a last-min reservation as part of a two-day, 16-hour move/drive to New Orleans with our 50lb pittie mix. This was an absolute perfect rest stop, our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! The place was spotless and stylish with views to die for, I couldn’t stop swooning! Communication was flawless — Michael and Kerrie were incredibly responsive and helpful, check in and out was a breeze. They might be Superhosts, but they were super heroes to us! They anticipated our every need and the thoughtful details and personal touches not only made us feel at home, we felt like VIPs! I would be lying if I said I didn’t choke up a little when — after an incredibly stressful week and 9+ hours on the road — we walked in to see that stunning view, a bottle of wine, snacks and chocolate waiting for us! Michael and Kerrie didn’t miss a single detail or a beat. Even though we only had one night, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back or *enthusiastically* recommend the space for a proper stay. The pup was totally at ease and happy as can be here, which, as pup parents well know, makes such a world of difference. I also found their dog policy and expectations to be incredibly reasonable, you can tell they’re dog people who get it. Never felt like we were walking on eggshells, zero stress for us and the pup. Typically, when traveling with him, we have to spend $$$ or stay places that aren’t quite as nice as we’d like. This space was a tremendous value, imo. Omg, don’t even get me started on how great the hot tub was after a long day, perfect way to wind down. And since I (clearly) can’t say it enough, THAT VIEW THO Y’ALL! Probably obvious by now that I could go on and on, but don’t take my word for it, don’t hesitate — make the reservation already, you will be so so grateful you did! Michael and Kerrie — thanks so much again!
High Rock Haven
Recently our family (6 adults) got together for a reunion. We had family members coming from Northern Virginia and Louisiana. We choose High Rock Haven as our place to spend the week based on the reviews, property size, and location. It was the perfect choice. It was centrally located to everything we wanted to do. The property itself was beautiful and well maintained. We stayed at the High Rock Haven house. Mike has several that he rents and on several occasions we walked the grounds of the large wooded development and they all look great. The grounds themselves are phenomenal with great views, hiking trails, and a common area pond and stream with a fire pit. For many of our family this was their first trip to the Asheville area. So visiting the Biltmore, Chimney Rock, spending time in Black Mountain and Montreat were all within a half hour to forty minute drive. We even ventured up to Linville Gorge for a day of hiking after a longer but pleasant drive through the beautiful mountains. There is so much to do in this area that we have decided to make this an annual event and High Rock rentals will be our choice of destination. As for details about our High Rock Haven home it was very nice. The way the bedrooms are laid out worked really well for us. The lower level bedrooms ( converted king or twin beds in one room and bunk beds room for kids) had more privacy and was quieter and more to the likening of our older family members because of the direct access. Our group was all adult,s no kids this trip. The queen bedroom is on the main level of the house right off the kitchen. The bathroom for this bedroom is right next door, not en suite. The upper level king bedroom is in a huge loft area open to the downstairs family room/and dining room with an en-suite bathroom. We had most of our meals together at the house and the kitchen and large dining area was perfect. The house was very clean and well stocked. We can’t wait to return!
