Stubborn German House of Bourbon, Lawrenceburg, KY

The perfect Bourbon Trail location!
As a fellow Metro East resident, I have known about Stubborn German and I am a big fan of their place in Waterloo, and have seen several positive posts about their house on the Bourbon Trail and had it on the list to check out if we ever made it down. Well that finally happened this past week and it was the right choice. I was lucky enough to get The opportunity to do a barrel pick at Buffalo Trace and had to turn it into a wuivk Trail trip as well. After a little bit of searching for something for my group, I settled on the Stubborn German house to support my fellow local friends and for its setup for the group. It is perfectly centralized on the trail in Lawrenceburg so you can easily get to Bardstown, Frankfort and other surrounding towns. We had seven guys in our group so we needed plenty of beds without needing to share, and this was the perfect setup for that with the 2 private rooms, one large room with 4 twins and 2 bathrooms. the large room made for some funny stories with all the snoring going on. although it was cool when we were there, we did get to enjoy the outside area a little. The living room is a good size and although our group was a little cramped in there, it worked out well. Love the various bourbon decorations throughout the house. The hospitality that Chris and Tammy provide is top notch and their recommendations for the area are something to definitely utilize, as they will not steer you wrong. Thanks for being our home base for our trip and can’t wait to share my bottles with you all when they come in!

Jack single-handedly saved my wedding. After a horrible experience with a catfish rental, I found myself displaced for over 24 hours scrambling to look for another place for my large bridal party to stay last minute. Jack to the rescue! Jack was extremely proactive and empathetic to my stressful situation, responding as I sent him frantic messages late the previous night. He quickly opened up his listing, after checking with his staff, and prepped for an effortless checkin. The space was absolutely gorgeous and was more than enough room for my bridal party. Very clean home with an excellent location. The artwork in the home was so beautiful that a lot of my girls from out of town snapped shots taking back a piece of the beautiful Kentucky art scene. His staff called shortly after I checked in to see if I needed anything and assured me he was also available. After a 2-day wedding weekend, there was no rush to check out, which I too appreciated. 1000/10- epitome of southern hospitality.

We were in the area to enjoy some of the Bourbon Trail and this location was an easy drive to the ones on our list. There were four adults (two couples) and we were very comfortable in the home. All the comforts of home were available and then some! The home is spacious and clean. Furniture was comfortable, especially the beds. One couple used the hot tub and loved it. We did not need to do laundry, but it was nice to have the option. The only thing that we could not figure out was internet. We logged in, but it seemed to only let one device on at a time. It was likely user-error, but not a big deal for us as we were on vacation and those who needed to check email took turns. In all fairness, we did NOT contact Bill & Heather for assistance for this issue, so they had no opportunity to help. We would 100% stay in this home again and recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable place for their next trip! Bill & Heather - Thanks for sharing your place with us!

Heather's cute A-frame was a great getaway for our family. We wanted something close enough to Mammoth Cave, but also cozy and more fun than just a fishing cabin ; ). It is in the woods and so quiet, which was great for a break from the city life we have. She has snacks and food in the pantry if you forget something! My husband even commented on how well the kitchen is stocked with pans, utensils and dishes. I also loved having a washer and dryer to wash our bathing suits from being in the lake. The gnomes make it even more cute and the decorations are well though out and the color schemes for each area are soothing. All the beds were comfy and we loved the shower! Thanks to Heather for being quick to respond and checking in on us. She is a great communicator and we hope to come back when we want to visit the Lake and Mammoth Cave again! "This is the best airbnb we have booked..." said our teenage son... so that says alot!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Thea's. The place was exactly as described and match the pictures online. The kitchen was spotless and had everything we need to make meals. The living room was cozy and we chilled there frequently watching TV and listening to the record player provided. The beds and the linens were all top quality and comfy and we appreciated having soaps and hair washing products provided. We enjoyed the use of the hot tub and the sauna in the winter month. Unfortunately, there was so much to enjoy that we didn't get a chance to use it all, but there was a beautiful fire pit outside on the property, a deck with a fire table, patio chairs, and sofa. We did enjoy the game room where there was a pool table, air hockey table, multiple old-school video games as well as many other games to play. The property was located close to multiple distilleries and we could easily drive to Lexington and Versailles to explore. I highly recommend Thea and this property to other Airbnbers.

We had a simply wonderful stay at Jordan’s place. It was a perfect space for our group. Plenty of room for everyone to gather and also have privacy if needed. We spent most of our time out on the deck as we were blessed with beautiful weather during our trip. We enjoyed the table top fire pit, and looking out over the lake. Kitchen was well-appointed. Coffee bar was equipped with both Keurig and regular pot, which was appreciated. Primary bedroom was huge and beautiful view. Downstairs was great for entertaining and lounging. The main living area is just off the kitchen with huge couch with reclining seats and is where we spent most of our gathering time. We traveled with our 93 year old dad who uses a rollator/walker and he had no trouble getting around the house (or up the two small stairs at entrance). Can’t say enough good things. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

This little house in somerset was perfect! Autumn was the best host. Very responsive & kind. She had so many recommendations for what to do & eat in the area. The campfire was our favorite. I loved that it already had wood cut up & ready to use. I thought that was an extremely thoughtful touch to the stay. She had everything as far as shampoo, soaps, extra blankets, Etc. and even some emergency dog supplies for the dogs. I also love that it is dog friendly. This is a big reason we booked this place! We always have a hard time finding places that allow our pups to come. We overall had a great experience, I would recommend this place simply for the cozy feel & the thoughtful hosts! Our only complaint is that the house is right off the main road. It would be perfect if it was farther back in the woods but this is definitely something you can’t change! We also found the cutest brunch spot called the urban stillhouse. Definitely a must try when in the area!

We had the pleasure of staying at Jennifer’s place, while attending my niece’s wedding, which, thanks to Jennifer’s gracious permission, was beautifully hosted on her property. Jennifer was an amazing host, exceeding expectations in so many ways, by providing linens, dishes, and offering assistance wherever needed. Her friendly and accommodating nature truly enhanced our experience!! The house itself was immaculate, with comfortable beds and a well-stocked house that included many thoughtful extras that made our stay both comfortable and enjoyable. The outdoor area has a beautiful arbor and garden, with a large gazebo and seating area out back. Beautiful brick drive and walkway. Location is right next to walkable downtown and college campus area. Jennifer is a fantastic host, and we couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable and pleasant place to stay!
