The ski resort was built in 1969 and the Village of Sugar Mountain was incorporated in 1989. The resort village of Sugar Mountain is high in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains with elevations ranging from 4,100 at the base to 5,300 feet at the summit. The premier ski resort is privately owned, while the public golf and tennis club is owned by the village making for happy guests who do not need to pay membership fees to play the course touted as THE #2 short course in the US. If you desire to stay at a unique mountain lodge that is within walking distance to all Sugar Mountain Resort and Village amenities, look no further than Suite Escape@Snowlake. This updated mountain lodge cabin located at situated at 4100 feet at the base of Sugar Mountain Resort and is one of the original properties in Sugar Mountain. Due to it's proximity 1/10th of a mile to the ticket booth, you will be on the slopes in no time. Just put your ski or snowboard boots on, grab your equipment from the handy outdoor ski closet and walk across the street. While it comfortably sleeps up to 10 people in 4 oversized bedrooms, all with en-suite private baths, this tri-level lodge was originally built with comfort as top of mind, alongside spacious gathering areas for those bonding and memory makers that make up a lasting desire to return time and again to Sugar Mountain. The full-size kitchen is complete with crockpot for those delicious family-style meals, you can easily prepare before you head out for a day on the slopes. During the holidays, guests are thrilled they can prepare a full holiday meal!

A fun option for smaller groups of 2-6 people is our sister property Elk Hill Escape just five minutes and 1 mile from Sugar Mountain toward downtown Banner Elk and Beech Mountain. This updated property has direct access for those with mobility issues or just the desire for no stairs. The property is a two-level, and accommodates mobility challenges due to it the living, bedroom and kitchen all within the direct entry access on the first-level. The second level is a huge 600 square feet living area broken up into two sleeping/living areas. With the added workspace, it is perfect for relocation, work from home scenarios, home school, remote work, traveling nurses, temporary housing and more. Although set up as a short-term vacation rental, Carolina Mountains Vacation will consider longer stays. This beautiful cabin has a chic-luxe with the most comfortable beds on the planet and yes, even a gas grill!
